+dapettit
I was concerned about the ph level of our RO/DI water. I did a ph test and the yellow isn't listed on the color chart. I going to assume it's below 7.4. I've been using it as top off for the tanks and haven't noticed any problems. I quess we'll have to raise the ph in the RO/DI. Does any one else have this problem? How should I raise the ph? I'm storing the water in a 55 gallon plastic drum.
jsr
Same results here with API test kit. I would be interested to know what everyone thinks about this topic. Topping off with very low PH water has to have some affect on the overall PH in the tank.
GKarshens
Do you top-off straight from the unit or does it sit in a reservoir? Have you tested the water after it has sat for awhile?
Headless_donkey
Why do you guys always scare me about stuff? Sure I have heard of issues with RO/DI, but I was playing ostrich in the sand. I have heard airrating will raise the ph, but I haven't done any research on it.
+dapettit
Right now I make straight into the 5 gallon jug. No I have not test the water after it has sat for awhile But I do have 50 gallons I'm holding to mix with salt thats been setting for several weeks. But I did find out from our LFs that the chemicals in the water ph test kits use are removed by the ro/di unit. I was going to get a low ph test kit when I gathered this peice of information. How about you reefers who top off straight to your tanks, looking in cmannings direction, any input?
apedroza
I always make up my water and it sits in a 30 gal container fro topping off. I have never tested the pH, but I have seen no ill affects in my tank.
