LEW
Is deinonized water good for making saltwater? I have always used RO, but my lab has DI water on tap. Anyone know if it is OK?
xcreonx
Yes, DI water is generally more purified than RO. I have DI cartridges after my RO to purify completely.
Entropy
DI is generally better than RO (assuming your RO is not putting out pure water). Generally Lab grade DI is better than what most people get out of their home RO/DI unit. It is perfectly safe to mix saltwater with it, but it tastes pretty yucky! xcreonx
Just be careful with adjusting your salt mix. the ph of DI water can be pretty acidic (ph of 5 in some cases)
