Derek
I recently switched my lighting to 250 watt HQIs. I noticed that my flame angel seems to have darkened up a bit along his dorsal fin area and forehead. Is it getting the fish version of a tan? offroadodge
make sure there is glass under the bulbs, and it may change colors a bit with the new light or just look a little different to you cause of the new lights.
dshel1217
mine did the same thing, I think it has more to do with stress.
Derek
I have the UV shield on the fixture. He seems fine. He is eating an everything. No other signs of stress. I probably just have not noticed before due to the spectrum of lighting I had previously.

Now thats its been in my tank for a while it turned a deeper blue. Could be the change in the lighting from aquadome to my tank. How long have you had the flame angel? Derek
I think I've had him for about a year. I had him under T5s at first, then LEDs, but I recently switched to HQI.

I hope someone can shed of light on this one. I always thought mine changed color because of the stress.
Derek
We'll see. I am seeing no signs of stress on my flame angel so I do not think it is stress at all.
