pbnj
I noticed my pH had dropped to 7.7 yesterday, which was strange because it never usually drops below 7.9. Since pH and alkalinity are closely tied, i.e., if one is off, the other is likely off, I tested my alkalinity. Turns-out, the intake tube on the BRS Doser for alkalinity became loose and couldn't keep the siphon. The alkalinity dosing had stopped for at least a day and the alkalinity level dropped about a full point (8 to 7). No ill-effects on the tank, but considering I only test alk/calcium once per week, you could see how this could have become a significant issue, if not for the pH probe. So, big for pH probes (and Apex controllers)!
JasonJones
Great catch! While having a controller is certainly not necessary, they sure can be helpful.
