(Bio)³
So how will you keep the mandarin fed? I really want one but I have heard they can't be kept in nano tanks because of low pod population.
mFrame
So how will you keep the mandarin fed? I really want one but I have heard they can't be kept in nano tanks because of low pod population. I've had mine for over a year in my 34g, he eats mysis. I've continually tried to add a female for him thinking he would teach her to eat. Hasn't worked yet. I think he may be an @ss because two of them have jumped.
(Bio)³
How did you train your mandarin to eat mysis or did you bite the bullet and get an ORA mandarin that already eats frozen?
RUSH
I feed mine frozen mysis, micropellets and am also cultivating tigerpods in my hob refugium. -Chris

RUSH
I myself didn't really train her. When I was at Aqua Dome, Hunter and I had a conversation about the mandarins feeding. He was telling me she was eating micropellets and frozen mysis. I usually thaw out the mysis in a small cup of tank water. Also since shes in a tank with a pair of Occ clowns she has time to pick at and cruise the tank for the pellets/ shrimp. Now I have heard of people training their mandarins with a "feeding tube". saw a video on youtube of a guy that took a clear plastic tube with a small hole drilled in the top and would use a turkey baster to inject brine shimp, mysis etc. and the mandarin learned where to go to munch. Hope that help a little. -Chris
