cjwl
Finally, I got the Dupla substrate heater. I hope this helps with the plants.
jestep
I really like those and the inline Hydor heaters. Anything to not have a heater hanging down into a tank.
cjwl
Everything I read says that the Dupla helps with the roots. I'm going to have to check out the inline heaters--I've been away from aquariums for a good while and many things have improved. If you don't mind me asking, what did you use for your substrate? jestep
I just use caribsea sand. I think it was the torpedo beach. Otherwise the eco complete, or ADA, or other planted substrates are probably a bit better.
cjwl
Thanks, I ended up with eco complete. I'm going to try a planted tank w/o Co2.
caferacermike
Many years ago we set up a small 40g tank with one of the clay soils and a substrate heater. It really seemed to work well. The idea is that the warm water will rise out of the substrate while cool water will replace it, thus constantly circulating water through the substrate
PatrickS
Thanks, I ended up with eco complete. I'm going to try a planted tank w/o Co2. I dont have any Co2 in mine... And my plant growth is nuts! But mine is only a 10 gallon. I don't know if thats makes a difference? I never thought of that before. hahaha Please keep me updated with how it goes. Patrick.
