Calcified Dead Coral in reef tank

I hope nothing's wrong with it :) I've been using dead acro for great hitching posts for years (I didn't kill it ;) ). Do you know if they were coral and they just died and were pulled out, or were they treated and intended for use as a house decoration?

There is no problem with using it as long as there are no chemicals in it. I would soak it in a weak bleach solution and then put it in RO water for a few days and test for copper. If you don't detect anything, I would put the pieces in one at a time over a couple of weeks and watch for any adverse effects.

I think Jason's advice is spot on, assuming they don't test for copper I wouldn't see a problem with adding them a piece at a time. They'll be gorgeous once they're covered in coraline.
