+Melissa
Found this little guy in some coral I got;. He's in isolation right now until I figure out what he is. Any ideas? I noticed that the larger end has pinchers, but the smaller end has the face.
+mcallahan
I don't know what it is, but the "face" end might be a disguise against predators. And...this guy made it through your coral dip?
DaJMasta
Looks like an isopod to me. Maybe this variety? http://www.crustacea.net/crustace/isopoda/www/sphaerom.htm From a little googling, those long 'pincer' appendages in the back are an indication that it's a male. +Hydro
I don't know what it is, but the "face" end might be a disguise against predators. And...this guy made it through your coral dip? Dipping usually won't kill stuff like that IME. I've had acro crabs, snails, and hermit crabs make it through a strong dip of coral pro RX. Maybe a real strong iodine dip might kill them. Eric Alvarado
That thing is awesome. Was going to throw a barb about better you than me, but given my karma right now, thought that was a bad bad bad idea

Derek
That thing looks insane! I used to see similar critters in swimming pools. I called them "water bugs".
+Melissa
I didn't dip anything yet. All the new stuff is in the frag tank set up for just this. I'm a bit new to dipping. (don't hate please) I love seeing new creatures but this guy just freaks me out. He's still alive in his container, as I keep changing his water. He curled around a pellet I threw in and after looking at him, my husband said " your bug's dead". Nope, not even. He was swimming around after a poke with the toothpick. If he's good, I have no problem letting him enter his home, but he just looks so evil. He just creeps me out.
atxmandarin
melissa hes certainly a type of isopod, don't put him back in the tank ive lost a clown and a tang due to these pesky little guys! odds are good he would attach to a fish eventually
