+Mel in Elgin
Being fairly new to the saltwater hobby I purchased a 29 Biocube that has been up and running for about 9 months. All is well, but now I'd like to replace the bio balls with LR rubble. Should I do this a few balls at a time over an extended period or do it all at once? Current inhabitants are 1 clown, 1 yellow tail damsel, 30 hermits, 10 snails, starfish, camel shrimp, a pink crab, RBTA. Corals are Xenia, Kenya Trees, Toadstools, Acans, Zoos, candycanes, duncans, and a hammer. (Not sure if it matters what is in the tank, but thought better to list just in case). wa1tx
I think the general guideline is to do a little at a time over a couple weeks, but on my bc I removed them all at once. I did not see any bad effect, but I am not advocating doing it that way.
Timfish
+1 I don't think it really matters, I've run reef systems for years with wet/drys and not had issues with nitrates like some people say they cause but in theory live rock rubble should increase the diversity of a ecosystem which is always a good thing.
