A Couple Of Questions

We are setting up a 110g FOWLR tank. We need some advice on some equipment.

1) We like the look of Metal Halide pendants, but there isn't really a need for such bright lights on a fish only tank. Are there any other pets that have the same look, but less are intense/hot/expensive?

2) Should we leave a plenum under the sand? This actually applies to the 110 and a 20 we are using to combine nanos.

Any input would be fantastic. If anyone has any suggestions for a fish only tank, please let us know.

I know I get shimmer lines from my LED moon lights. You might try mixing several white LEDs with some NO fluorescents. I am not sure if the fluorescents would overpower the LED shimmer or not.

Thank you. We get shimmer from the LEDs also. We aren't really looking for the shimmer. Instead we are interested in a light that looks like a MH pendant on the outside. Purely aesthetic. I wasn't clear in the original post.

I would go to Home Depot or Lowes and look at pendant light fixtures and use those curled PC bulbs. No heat and low energy consumption.

Awesome! That is exactly what I was think of doing. I will try it and see if it works.
