Headless_donkey
We are setting up a 110g FOWLR tank. We need some advice on some equipment. 1) We like the look of Metal Halide pendants, but there isn't really a need for such bright lights on a fish only tank. Are there any other pets that have the same look, but less are intense/hot/expensive? 2) Should we leave a plenum under the sand? This actually applies to the 110 and a 20 we are using to combine nanos. Any input would be fantastic. If anyone has any suggestions for a fish only tank, please let us know. As always thank you
GKarshens
I know I get shimmer lines from my LED moon lights. You might try mixing several white LEDs with some NO fluorescents. I am not sure if the fluorescents would overpower the LED shimmer or not.
Headless_donkey
Thank you. We get shimmer from the LEDs also. We aren't really looking for the shimmer. Instead we are interested in a light that looks like a MH pendant on the outside. Purely aesthetic. I wasn't clear in the original post. Headless_donkey
http://www.hellolights.com/cope.html Something like this only less expensive and hot.
GKarshens
I would go to Home Depot or Lowes and look at pendant light fixtures and use those curled PC bulbs. No heat and low energy consumption.
Headless_donkey
Awesome! That is exactly what I was think of doing. I will try it and see if it works.
