Andrews Tank Webcam

Dude you beat me to it. Very nice! What kind of camera are you using. I was looking into the Linksys wireless G, but I heard it was hard to use. It would be super sweet if you could take a pic of how you have the camera in front of the tank. BTW nice domain.

Thanks for the nice comments. I'm using a Logitech QuickCam for notebooks Pro. I have the poor mans webcam setup since I didnt't want to shell out $100 a month for streaming video. I have the webcam running to a laptop thats inside the cabinets to the left on my tank. The laptop is constantly uploading to my server through my wireless network, and the page itself has a meta refresh so that your constantly seeing a new image every 4 seconds. I'm still tweaking it, but overall I'm very happy.

I'll try and snap a few pics soon.

It may look like it, but the camera is really not in the way. The benefits of having it there out way not having it. Like most of us, I spend most of my day at work. So I wrote a little gadget that puts the video feed on my Google desktop sidebar, so I am always able to see my tank. :D

I bought a little suction cup thingy that holds the camera nicely against the glass. I may use it in the future for a more condensed shot, but for now I'm enjoying the FTS.

Ok, I know... I'm always talking about my webcam. But check it out. I've finally configured a streaming webcam. It's really cool.

My only issue is that my ISP has been a little flaky and occasionally will block the port I use. If you can't see it, it's because your firewall is blocking outbound connections on port 8080 (witch is pretty strict)

Watch it at http://www.awesomereef.com/stream.html

Let me know what you think.
