On a side note, does anyone know if by dimmable it means that you can turn the 400w into a 200w? Or does dimming it affect the coverage differently?

Think of it more as adjustable, than dimmable. It has preset incriments, like esac and Bio said. On mine, they have 250w - 250w HQI - 400w - 400w HQI

how would this do on a 48" 90gallon?

So once I've got my filter pad all bacteria-ized, I'm guessing I should run the tank empty for about a week before I use it for QT purposes?

To be on the safe side, I'd go for about 2 weeks.... I think 1 week would be totally fine, but it never hurts to be overly precautions.

I read somewhere that I may want to put my filter pad in the sump for a week or two before I set up the QT as well. I guess this is the reason.

So is there anything special you have to do for a QT other than a bare tank (just egg crate), good lighting, HOB filter, and a powerhead? I'm assuming there's no cycling since there's nothingin there to cycle. Just fresh saltwater and good to go, correct?

Not correct... you might want to take some water from your display and use it to fill the majority of the QT tank. You still need beneficial bacteria, even without live rock. Instead of colonizing on live rock, they will instead do so on your filter pads. Every tank has to cycle!

Brooks, The super picassos are offspring from my doni lineage male and doni lineage female picasso breeding pair, thus they are 100% percula ... The Super platniums are a hybrid from my super black ice occellaris male and a doni lineage female picasso,because the father was a snowflake thus the blueish hue on the super platniums , I thought i explained that part when we met up for the trade?? Anyways now you know the100% lineage on these fish, all bred here at my breeding facility not bought in from random vendors:) any other questions just ask you have my cell number buddy .

Mine never ate hermits... just ate live Ghost shrimp until I weaned him onto frozen.

I had one in my old Solana for a while without any issues... as long as the fish can't fit in it's mouth, you're good!
