    Black tang

You know you're looking at a big fish when a vlamingi looks "average"...
  2. If all you're actively growing in there is algae, I've got a cheapo HD clip-on lamp with a grow bulb from The Light Bulb Shop on mine.

    nori?

As long as it's not flavored, you should be fine. The asian food store over on 183 in the Ohlen/Fairfield area has tons of different kinds of roasted seaweeds if you're looking for variety. I bought the nori that I feed to my yellow tang there.
  4. I have a large rock whose top is mostly covered by green protopalys, and the polyps are taking up space that I'd rather use for acros. The rock is fairly sizable at roughly 15" x 12" x 10", weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 lbs and has been in this tank for about 3-1/2 years. It's also inhabited by a colony of 40-50 yellow polyps, a few unidentified brown zoas, several small feather dusters, a handful of different sponges and lots of microstars. Any prospective buyer will need to bring a container suitable for a rock of this size. New price - Asking $65.
  5. Does anyone know where I can find a high-powered magnifying glass? My 3x-5x doesn't really magnify enough to do a thorough inspection of new frags. The teacher supply stores don't have anything stronger than what I already have.
  6. So I've had my tank for about three years now. You'd THINK that after all this time, I'd have a pretty good idea of what's in it, right? Well, I was having trouble falling asleep, so I headed downstairs and figured I'd check out the tank at night, which I don't do very often. What to my wondering eyes should appear but a gorilla crab, calmly breaking off bits of rock to chew through. I had NO IDEA he was in there - no molts, no missing fish, nuthin'. Guess I'm going crabbing for awhile...

    Ignore

I think Mark has control issues...

    sea horses

My understanding is that acros are too weak to hurt seahorses, but a little digging on seahorse.org should clear the question up definitively.

    sea horses

There are stories of clams accidentally killilng seahorses that stumbled into them, crushing the seahorse when the clam's close reflex triggered. My bigger concern is how you make sure the horses get enough food with the other fish in the tank. Seahorses are sssssllllloooooooowwwwwwwww eaters... Toxiq might be onto something with the sexy shrimp since they're so small, but I've got two peps in with my two erectus, and I've never had any trouble between them. Sounds like the rest of your setup is in good shape, though.
  11. Hey, there! The turbo snail I "borrowed" from Mark Callahan has done an excellent job of ridding my fuge of red turf algae and is now in need of a new home/food source. However, be warned - to quote Senor Mark, "He is the club's community snail tho so if someone kills him or sells him, they are in deep s---!"
  12. Thanks for the edit, James - didn't think to embed the video myself!
  13. I've seen pics, but I've never seen before. The video mentions the size of the adults. For the metrically-challenged among us, 2.5cm is just under an inch.
  14. Sounds like a plan, Steve!
  15. Big Bird, you would offer such a cool pack on a weekend when I'm not available!

    Too many zoas!

Hey, DR! Glad you like 'em! I can't wait to see how your palys open up in the morning. Sorry I didn't have more time to be a better host - I'll work on that next time. ; )
  17. Mark, any closer to a decision on this yet?
  18. Hey, don't be dissin' my 10ks! I like the look of the shallower reef, and I've got four T4 actinics for pop.

    Too many zoas!

Adrienne, I'm over in Cedar Park. PM me for details.
  20. It was SUPPOSED to be bright yellow, but was a light pea green instead. I've got it under new 10k bulbs, but the green has only deepened in my tank. I'm jealous that your frag has yellowed up for you! ; )

    Too many zoas!

I'm getting overrun by some of my zoas, so I'm looking to offload. These will be freshly cut and unmounted unless otherwise noted. The first is four full-sized and four baby green protopalys on a frag plug. They're in my sump in poor light right now, so they've browned over, but they'll color up fine once they're under decent lighting. Asking $10 Next is about 20 blow pops on a frag plug. They're much like the Eye of Rah in coloration, except they don't have the strong blue in the disc. Asking $25 I've got tons of Radioactive Dragon Eyes. Asking $1.50/polyp, min 10 polyps I also have a mass of dragon eyes that have broken off of the main colony. I'm guessing there are 75 polyps or so. Asking $60 for the whole mass Green Bay Packers, $2/polyp, min 10 polyps Chocolate mint wagon wheels. Deep brown skirts and discs with a mint green starburst in the center $3/polyp, min 5 polyps Eye of Rah. These have really nice coloration with a strong blue disc. $2/polyp, min 5 polyps I can also make some Gorilla Nipple (not pictured) frags if anyone's interested. $1/polyp, min 10 Trades are always welcome - make me an offer!
  22. I bought a "yellow" porites from Vivid awhile back that turned out to be green. I've got too much green in my tank as it is, so I'm selling this. The colony is roughly 4" x 5" x 5" , and it's shown new growth since arriving in my tank. Asking only what I paid for it - $37. I also have two frags of pink jade. Both frags are fully-encrusted, with one on a plug and the other on a disc. My camera's not the best - the green on the jade frags is deeper than shown in the pictures. Asking $20 each. I'm always open to trades - make me an offer!
