Brian,
Belinda and I hate to see you take a break but we all need one now and then.
Bump for a heck of a set up and a great guy.
Thanks buddy, y'all are two of my favorite fish heads!
-
having seen this tank in person several times, I can attest that it is very beautiful and the pics really don't do it justice.
Given the super lovey golden retriever (not pictured), I can see why you'd want to get out of the hobby!!
Thanks Mark but having gotten out of the hobby twice before I've come to realize it is obviously just a break when I do it, no matter what my intentions are. The problem is, each time I get back in - I go bigger!
-
Well, so far I've had offers for the tank, sump, Wavebox, Aquacontroller, calcium reactor, multiple SPS offers and an offer for all livestock and live rock! Whoohoo - thanks guys! I will definitely keep you all in mind if um... I change my mind and decide to part out. Ha! Or y'all could get together, come by, take it all and then divvy it up. FOR NOW, still hoping for a package deal.

I've been on the fence about this for a while now but the time has come to take a break from this wonderful hobby and so I'm parting with my 180 gallon setup. This has been a labor of love and much work and fun went in to the cabinet building, rock sculptures and stocking the tank. We're very fond of these fish, most of which we've had for over 4 years and want them to go to only the best of homes! This is a very complete setup and includes about everything you'll need to create a beautiful live reef in your home.
I added up what I thought were cheap used prices on individual items and then knocked off over a thousand dollars because I really don't want to go to the trouble of parting out at this time. Asking $2400.
Brian

Hey Brian, everything is wonderful. The big tank was taking a lot of my time away from Belinda and the kids. I realized the other day that I was obsessing with trying to perfect our tank and it never came remotely close to my expectations. A lot of people said they liked it the way we had it. I never did and always had my hands in it, constantly feeling the need to change the landscaping (so to say) around. That was evident by the things we were always selling (ie rock, coral and sand). So much for stability. lol A lot of our ARC and MAAST family have great success with large tanks and they enjoy the profound rewards that come with it. I'm just not one of them. I think it has a lot to do with my personality. My priority is my family, not my hobbies. I simply lost my focus. Chris Fowler purchased the tank. I know Chris will make it into something I could not. He has what it takes to do it and I bet spend a quarter of the time I did doing it. I am looking forward to a great looking, smaller tank. Sorry for being long winded. I wanted to make sure folks understood exactly why we did this. We are still as passionate about this hobby as ever.
Hey guys, that's sad! Hope y'all are doing ok.
OK, good - glad y'all are doing well! I certainly understand about the time, not to mention trials and tribulations that come with a big reef tank (I question my own sanity on a regular basis - LOL). Also glad to hear that you are going to continue to be involved with the clubs on a smaller scale because it wouldn't be the same without you!

I think my regulator may be kaput! Please let me know if you've got one available.
Thanks!!

Anyone know where I can get reasonably priced servicing on my CO2 regulator? I had my tank refilled and when I hooked up my regulator it started having problems. The timing is strange since it was working fine before the refill but now one of the gauges appears to be malfunctioning. I've been to Home Brew and they couldn't help. I can't seem to find anyone in Austin that will service CO2 regulators. Airgas ships them away and the price is high.
Please let me know if you have any ideas where I can get servicing or a new gauge for the regulator.
Thanks!

Do you have a pic and price on the Rommel's Rainbow?
-
Sold. Thanks!

OK, maybe it is not "with GREAT sadness" but I've had this really nice Toadstool Shaped live rock for quite some time so this offer is bittersweet. My montipora caps are encroaching on it's territory and so I must let it go. You don't see many live rocks that are nice stand alone pieces but this one is. It is appox 4 inches wide by almost 12 inches tall and has a definite toadstool shape to it - but that's not all! It is adorned with "over 200" Wammin Watermellon zoas, a few Radioactive Dragon Eyes, about 50 Pink Panthers and over 20 purplish colored mushrooms that glow neon green under actinics!
Just asking $75 OBO. Would consider trade for SPS but it would have to be pretty tempting.
-
I've seen Brian's tank, very nice corals. Great aquascaping too.
Thanks Stephen! I still need to come check out your setup - good excuse for another trade.
-
nice and healthy looking! I need to find some time to visit your reef someday soon.Heres a link to a zoa thread I started I plan on posting some more pics in the coming weeks
Thanks Mike, you're welcome to come by. By the way your zoa thread is amazing!
-
how about some pics or a link
Mike, my previous coral photos probably scared more people off than lured them in! I really need to put in some research on it. Having said that, I'll try and locate my digital and shoot some current shots later. In the meantime here are a few older shots. Let me know if there is somethng in particular you would like to see. Also a few I forgot - Pink Champagne, green millie (looks like the sunset millie) and spumosa - these last two are encrusted frags. Do you have some pics for me?
-
I am always interested in trading for nice corals!
I have available for trade - Tri color Acro (a really nice brilliant royal blue), Pink Pocci, Green Slimer (frags and colonies), Green stag with blue tips, Purple stag, Nothern Lights Nasuta, Pink Jade, Pavona Cactus, Orange and Purple Digi (nice frags) Ponape and purple polyp Bird Nests, Red Planet, Pink Lemonade, JG Yellow, Green (more of a brown) Pocci, Skittles Stylo, red, purple and green monti caps as well as Christmas Tree and Eye of Rah zoas (some larger colonies available). And for the right trade could cut Pearlberry, Meridiana or Lime in the Sky.
For a limited time, with any trad I'll be giving away a free "covered" frag of zoas until they are all gone because they are overgrowing my frag rack and I'm sick of them.

I just cut a couple red planet frags earlier this week. I have a small one 1/4 - 1/2 inch that I would sell for $15.

Zoas are overgrowing my frag rack so I need to share. Covered plugs are $10 no matter the number of zoas - mostly green stars with brown skirts (christmas trees), big green palys, orange w/ brown skirts. Larger pieces w/ Eye of Rah available at 25 cents per zoa. SPS avaiable too - several kinds. Large rock with half Eye of Rah and half green palys (more than you can count) $50. Trades are welcome!

I have a credit from the Reef Hot Spot worth $99.99 that I would like to sell for $75. It's in the form of a coupon code and guaranteed to work - by me. I got it on a Livestock guarantee a while back and haven't had occasion to use it. Reef Hot Spot has a large selection of fish including some that we don't see around here very often. They just happen to be having a Labor Day Weekend sale going on through Monday which even includes free shipping on livestock orders over... you guessed it - $99.99! Now tell me that's not a good deal.

No, sorry it's sold.
Is this still available? I am interested.

Good trade Mike. Hope the corals do well for you.
Thanks, Brian

Yes, I have pink tipped frogspawn, a brown with white tips torch, zenia, zoas, palys and mushrooms available. You may be able to do ok with digitatas - I have orange and purple and you might do ok with a green slimer. What are you looking for and what is your lighting?
I may take you up on that, I happen to have one of each and only need one. You have any lower light corals?
