Thanks for all the well wishes we received over the last week. Both I and Jeff are recovering well after last week's car accident. For the most part we were able to keep up with demand through this ordeal. We didn't have tracking numbers for the shipments that went out last week and some emails received while I was getting some procedures were delayed, but for the most part we made it through. I am still on bed rest, but have been able to answer emails since the anesthesia wore off, and emails are getting answered just as fast as ever, if not faster than normal.

We would like to thank all of you for your patience and understanding through this matter, especially to those whose orders were delayed, or didn't have the benefit of tracking. Everyone's favorite TV contest is back with new questions and even more fabulous prizes than before. The Contest:

It is time yet again to show us what some neglect and overfeeding can do. Got a well water reef? It is time for a full tank shot because the 3rd annual Ugly Tank Contest is open to contestants. We are looking for tanks that are ugly, just really, really ugly. Cyano plauging your coral? Nice! Hair algae covering your mag float? No wonder you can't find it! Please post pics!

The Rules:

Submissions must have a full tank shot (FTS). Only that picture will count towards the contest, but other supporting close up photos are appreciated.

You can reply to this thread to submit the photo.

Pictures must be submitted by November 15th.

We will be selecting the worst 5 tanks from those submitted. Each of these tanks will receive a $10 gift certificate. I personally will be choosing the finalists to narrow down the chance of popularity becoming an issue. Each of the finalists will then vote for the tank they think is the worst, but are not allowed to vote for their own tank.

Plus! Each entrant gets a $5 gift certificate. You will have to send me an email or pm with the code you want to use. Just something simple will work, like "Hey John, I posted a photo in the ugly tank contest, I want my code to be "jmaloney" " Just make sure to put the code in quotes or on a separate line.

Show us how bad it can get! Be prepared for some good humored kidding, but please don't be embarrassed. If algae didn't happen I would be out of a job.

Lets see what you did with what we sent you! Post your pics here, and we will compile it with others posted around the internet of our rock and we will see who has the best eye for design.

Judging :

Judges will be chosen by us, we aren't doing it to play favorites but we have found that if we leave things completely open to the public members from larger reef sites vs. local forums don't get the number of votes necessary to win. (Although some local sites are so large and active they tip the balance the other way...) Anyway, I am honest and so are the judges I will pick so if you don't get picked don't get worked up over it. Trust me, this will reduce favoritism.

I will get 10 judges, each will pick their top 3 aquascapes. Top 10 tanks with the most votes form that go onto the finals do be voted on by everyone for 1 week.

Time frame:

Pictures must be submitted by 11:59PM EST Sept 18th

Top 10 tanks will be posted on Sept 20th

Voting by the public is open on Sept 21st to Sept 28th, ending Sept 28th at 11:59pm EST - the link to the voting area will be posted in this thread sometime before voting opens.

It has to be a picture of a tank containing at least 50% of rock purchased from us.

Only the aqua-scape will be judged. Coral, fish and even the tank setup should be ignored. Just the rock formations.

Anyone who emails myself or one of the judges asking or hinting towards favoritism will have to be ignored by that judge during the contest.
