  1. Throughout the ReefCleaners.org website are hidden eggs, 8 of them, which look like this:

    blue.jpg

When you click the egg you will directed to a page that will have either a discount code you can use, or a tip on how to get some free items added to your order. Feel free to share the directions to the eggs with your friends, but we would prefer if you didn't post them here.

    Rules:

One discount per order, sorry no exceptions here.

Contest begins now, ends Sunday at 5pm EST.

    No retroactive application of discounts.

Thank you all, and good luck with the hunt! :)

  2. We have a good amount of our "Assorted Smaller Conchs" now on sale for $2 each, until Monday 3/12 around noon when the sale price ends.

Right we have mostly Bear Conchs available, Strombus urceus, but there are a few other species in the mix, including: Strombus gibberulus

    Strombus luhuanus

    Strombus sinatus

All of these species are reef safe, and make excellent sand cleaners that stays relatively small for conchs. The smaller specimens may travel to rock work at times, but they stay mostly confined to the substrate. Combined with Nassarius spp. for scavenging and ceriths for the hard to reach areas, they can carry the workload of a formidable sand crew in tanks 30 gallons and larger.

    Catches:

These snails require Express Mail outside of Florida, and cannot be shipped with Priority mail.

(Shipments to the Florida Panhandle also require Express Mail)

Each unit/item represents one conch, the plural title refers to the different species we have at times.

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee a particular mix of them, everyone gets a random mix. Because of the high percentage of Bear Conchs we have on hand you should expect them to be included.

Let us know if you have any questions, if you are thinking of putting together a sand package for your tank and would like a recommendation with these conchs let me know. Thanks again for your continued support over the years!

  3. Same low prices though. :) We added the following products to the ReefCleaners.org website:

They are currently the lowest prices on these items throughout the Internet, and we will work hard to keep up efficiency and pass the savings on to you. Thanks again for your continued support over the years!

  5. Break out the hose, it is time to top off that tank that has been sitting in the corner - Ugly Tank Contest 4 is now accepting submissions!

Our annual contest highlights the horrible outcomes that happen when you leave your tank with a sitter, let a child under 12 feed the tank, or let the laziness sets in. You make up the excuse, we just want your pictures!

    The Rules:

Submissions must have a full tank shot (FTS). Only that picture will count towards the contest, but other supporting close up photos are appreciated. By submitting a photo you agree that we have the right to use that photo in the contest and its promotion, on this and other websites. You also agree that we can edit your image, sizing it for example to fit the thread we will use for voting purposes. All changes will be technical though, we have no interest or plans to touch up your photo etc...

Pictures must be submitted by November 26th.

We will be selecting the worst 9 tanks from those submitted. Each of these tanks will receive a $10 gift certificate. I personally will be choosing the finalists to narrow down the chance of popularity becoming an issue. It may seem like an unfair rule, but this process has yielded much better finalists than other methods we have employed. Each of the finalists will then vote for the tank they think is the worst, but are not allowed to vote for their own tank. In the event of a tie, the finalists will choose in a runoff race. Votes not cast by the end of the week will be forfeit, and may apply against the tank of that contestant so as not to make voting abstention an advantageous strategy. The finalists and notable submissions will be posted here, at the contest official thread beginning November 22nd.

Winner gets a free custom clean up crew shipped to clean the tank!

Each entrant gets a $5 gift certificate. You will have to send me an email or pm with the code you want to use. Just something simple will work, like "Hey John, I posted a photo in the ugly tank contest, I want my code to be "jmaloney" " Just make sure to put the code in quotes or on a separate line.

Show us how bad it can get! Be prepared for some good humored kidding, but please don't be embarrassed. If algae didn't happen I would be out of a job. :)

    To Enter:

Simply post a picture here. We will combine with other pictures from around the net. Check back on November 27th for a list of finalists, winners to be picked that week as we receive the votes in from the finalists.

Don't be shy! I am sure we have seen worse. Here is an example of some of the submissions we have seen over the years:

    893_0212.jpg

    and:

    ApiTank08Nov2010.jpg

    and don't forget:

    feel better? :)

  10. Use the code "jul15" to get 15% off your clean up crew or algae order at ReefCleaners.org before 11:59pm EST Saturday July 16th. You will notice Halymenia is in stock now and Spotted Sea Hares are on sale. New species will likely pop up on the site, including a different variation of Galaxaura rugosa. We will be putting that species up tonight. It is pretty hardy, and long lived. Orders placed before it with the comment "make my penny macro a G. rugosa" will get their wish. (If you google it, it is the spongy red variation with hairs). Otherwise full size specimens will be available soon.

Just a few catches, here are the rules:

    - Promotions cannot be combined

    - No retroactive discounts

    - Rock orders cannot be discounted

  11. Use the code "julysale" to get 10% off your clean up crew or algae order at ReefCleaners.org before 11:59pm EST Sunday July 9th. You will notice our macroalgae is sale priced not, but as the season comes to a close in the next few weeks the prices will rise and less species will be available. If you wanted to add macros to your tank, don't wait too much longer to act.

Thanks again for all the support over the years!

Well there are some catches of course, here are the rules:

    - Promotions cannot be combined

    - No retroactive discounts

    - Rock orders cannot be discounted

  12. We will be offering 15% off all orders except rock orders this weekend, up to 11:59pm EST Monday July 4th. To take advantage of the promotion during checkout use the code "july" during checkout.

Plus, if you order on Friday or Saturday when we are in the Keys you can get something free from the by leaving the note "bring me back a souvenir" or something to that effect. Don't worry it will be reef safe, most likely one of the cleaner species we come across that we would like to offer on a full time basis, but because of some reason we don't normally carry them. (Ivory ceriths for example are cool, but they are harder to come by then the larger and better cleaning FL cerith so we don't carry them. We know of hundreds of species like this, and can inform you about the species you will get of course, but the extras will be random and tailored to your order. )

    So in recap:

Place your order before 11:59pm EST Monday July 4th

Use the code "july" in the coupon box, unless you are ordering rock

Ask for something from the Keys if you order Fri/Sat, please excuse any email correspondence as we are traveling back and forth to the keys, emails should still be answered in a reasonable time though.

    Unfortunately no:

    Rock orders

    Combined Promotions

Discounts on Quick Crews smaller than 20 gallons. (20 gallons and up OK)

    Retroactive discounts

    Rain Checks

Thanks again for your continued support! We always appreciate it.

  13. Use the code "Friday" at ReefCleaners.org before 8am Sat and receive 15% off of your livestock order. Summer is in full swing and we have some quality stock in. Now is the time of the year to get macros, and we are offering many species on sale at the moment, including flame algae which is finally back in stock. Thanks again for your continued support, let us know if you ever have any questions.

  14. The Scarlet Hermit Crabs (Paguristes cadenati), is an attractive red colored reef safe hermit crabs that does well in tanks bigger than 15 gallons. Somewhat larger than blue legs, they are rumored to get along better with other shelled inverts, although personally I think all hermits they carry similar risks. They consumer hair algae and detritus, are hardy and have a decent lisfespan. We have them for a short time for $1, with a maximum purchase of 10 per shipment.

You can find them here, at ReefCleaners.org:

    Scarlet Hermit Crab

  15. "gelidium" in the hobby doesnt really refer to a species or even the genus really, but to any branching creeping wiry red algae. (rather than a turf of creeping red algae). what will eat any particular "gelidium" will come down to the thickness of it usually, it isnt that they are inedible it is just that most cleaners dont have the cutting power to eat them. Larger turbos, urchins, emerald crabs and sea hares are likely to work, but it is a little hit or miss still.

  16. Use the code "5off" before Friday at midnight EST to save $5. With the cash you save you can buy a lotto ticket and become a millionaire, so you should consider taking advantage of it. Thanks again for your continued support from all of us at ReefCleaners.org

  17. As well as a lot of other new products that we have added at ReefCleaners.org. Prices will also be rolled back throughout the weekend on macros, as they come into season. Thanks again for your continued support!

(use the code 10percent to get an extra 10% off our livestock prices.)
