  1. Thanks for the suggestion. I have been doing somewhat frequent 2 Gallon water changes hoping it would help clear it out, but I have had no luck. It has the texture of green hair algae, and you can't pull it off of the rock. I always thought if it was cyano you could usually pull it off of the rock, but it always came back. the only thing I am sure about is that I want it gone, and so far I am not having any luck. I talked to the LFS and they suggested trying Marine S.A.T., but I am always afraid to put unknown chemicals in my tank

  2. All right so my 12G JBJ NCDX has been running for about a month now. For about the past week I have had a thick layer of what appears to be brown hair algae that I cannot seem to get rid of, and no matter what I do it keeps coming back. My tanks parameters are perfect: Nitrate 0, Nitrite 0, Ammonia 0, Phosphate 0, PH, maybe a little high, 8.6, Calcium 480. Water temp maintains between 77 and 79. My lights come on at 9:30 and turn off at 7:45. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  3. well thats really screwed up. I am very sorry to hear that. Like I said he is an acquaintence of mine, and I don't know him personally. please don't hold this against me, I just posted due to he had no filtration on the tank, and the fish would die if nothing was done.

  4. I recently made a new acquaintance that is moving, and cannot take his tank. I am posting on the forum as a favor because he is not a member and the fish will more than likely die if not picked up soon. He has a Large 4 line damsel, tomato clown, and a Picasso Trigger. The fish are yours you just have to catch them. His name is Joe, he lives in Georgetown, and you can contact him at 512-508-4563. If you do pick these fish up please post on the thread so that he will not be harassed with calls as I will probably never see him again, and will have no idea if the fish were picked up.

  5. I checked out the link you sent me, and I believe they are talking about the old model sapphire. The new one is actually not even available yet, but is supposed to be sometime later this month. Supposedly, they fixed the problems they were having with the microbubbles, but you never know as these are just factory claims. Please let me know if your friend still has the Tunze as I might still be willing to go with it only because it is a proven skimmer. Thanks again for the help

  6. I have a JBJ 12G Nanocube, and have been looking for a decent skimmer that will fit in the back of filter compartment and still be able to close the factory lid. I was looking on nanotuners.com and came across the Sapphire Nanoskimmer NC12 that claims to do everything I want. Does anyone know anything about these skimmers, or does anyone have any suggestions for a good skimmer? Any advice is greatly appriciated

  7. I would like to sell this Aqua C skimmer. It is not all that new, but cleaned up very nicely and was used on my 120gallon tank for 5 years. It was driven by a Mag 12 pump that I am NOT selling with the skimmer. The skimmer produced a nice dark and thick skimmate and this would be wildly useful on a FOWLR tank or mixed reef tank. I am asking $75 for this unit and I have seen comparables sell on eBay for $115 so I guess if no one here in Austin is interested, I'll head that direction. Save me the hassle, take advantage of the good price and help me clear out my garage. Only comment on the unit is that years ago, I dropped the lid to the collection cup and broke it. It was easily and reliably repaired with acrylic cement and the unit performed up to spec after the repair. Contact at 512/785-2661 or email: [email protected] Here's a pic:

Do you know what model skimmer this is?

  8. Hello I am new to the area and to ARC. Due to the move I had to sell my up and running 110G, and now am missing it something horrible. :( So I have decided to setup an old 75G that I have lying around. Basically, I sold all of my equipment with my old tank so now need to start from scratch. I need everything except the tank. So if you have some stuff lying around that you don't use give me a price and maybe we can work something out.

    Thanks,

    Calvin
