  1. I saw your topic on RC, lol. :P That coral is beautiful... absolutely STUNNING!

    lol busted.....

Kinda on the expensive side with shipping, but wouldnt be bad if I could find a few ppl to split shipping with.

He quoted me for a 2.5-3in piece for 75$ plus 75$ for fedex priortiy overnight.

let me know if anyone wants to split something

  2. +1 on wanting purple slimer.

so i found a guy that has this nice huge colony of purple slimer. I am waiting on a quote back from him for the frag + shipping, depending on the price would yall want frags of this also and we can split the shipping? Let me know.

  3. +2 for no heater...my tank has been running heater-less for around 2 years, in the winter at night the tank will get down to 69-71 degrees and during the days it will come up to around 75-77 an it hasnt changed anything with my SPS. I do run a space heater next to the tank if it gets really cold outside and that seems to help quite a bit..

@ Mama- Same for me! Its the summers that you have to worry about.

  4. @Dav, I bought a 150g version of that tank and built up a stand that is about 4' tall. I placed the tank on that stand with about 1" to spare in my garage. That is the tank I use to hold my RO/DI water. I used to keep a tank in a far back bedroom, when I did water changes it could force water all the way to the tank. Below that I store my make-up water in a 55g screw top barrel that is full of Kalk and a couple of power heads that come on periodically to stir the Kalk.

i bet that makes it Much easier and less of a hassle to do water changes. Im still going to the water jug and filling 5g buckets...:D

  5. I tend to not wait for them to split. Instead I will pull them from the water and use an exacto, or scalpel, to make cuts on them. If you cut them in half, right through the mouth, they will quickly heal into 2 pieces.

    +1

  6. Bump for the new folks to add their contributions.

Yea lets see them ALL..new folks as well as a 6 month update for everyone else that posted earlier in the year. its always great to see how much coral can grow in 6 months.

  7. Are dosing calcium?

no i am not dosing anything. its kinda crazy you asked that, i was just thinking what all of my paramaters are at.....the friend that got me hooked on this hobby and sold me this tank always told me he never tested for anything he was just consistent on his water changes so thats pretty much what i did. I have never owned a test kit before, just a refracto which i only use for water changes. the only filtration is live rock and a remora pro skimmer.. i think everything in the tank is very established and its been working great so far so im thinking "if it aint broke then dont fix it." but i hope you didnt just jinx me!!:) i would Def be curious to see what my paramaters are actually at right now.

  8. These are the pics with the new camera. Still trying to get the white balances figured out.

And Again the slimer was growing out of the water so i took everything out from the right side of the tank, it should be good now for at least a couple months then i have no idea what im going to do.

  9. I just got a new camera not to long ago (sony a300) so i figured id post some pics, this camera thing is new to me so bare with me. I will also try to find some shots from the beginning so you can see where i started. This tank started when i was going to school in huntsville, after graduation i made the dreadful move. Surprisingly i did not lose Anything and it has been in my home here in hutto for around a year and a half. Well anyway heres some photos...

By this point i had to do some rearranging, the green slimer was growing out of the water, kenya trees were Long Overdue(i wish i would have gotten those out from the start) and took out alot of the green star polyps, alot of stuff from the right of the tank

  10. Ive had this star for around two years and I am finally convinced this is the culprit of random fish disappearances.

This was a couple of days ago, the fish got away that time but I havent seen her since then. It was pretty crazy to watch, when the fish swam out the star tried to close up on top of the fish. I wish I had my video camera handy.
