  1. I second leaving the lights out for 3 days. The fish will be fine and so will your corals. Seems the easiest thing to try first rather than introduce chemicals.
  2. Try diatomaceous earth. It's a powder you can put on your carpet, pets and any unpaved areas you may walk on. Just don't breathe it in directly or your pet either. Then vacuum it up. It takes a little longer to work, maybe a few days but I've used it in the past to get rid of some really bad flea infestations. You can also get food grade and mix it in your animals food to rid the of certain worms. Farmers use this in cattle food all the time. I think you can get it at Bark n Purr. That where I got the food grade type. What it does is put tiny holes in the fleas so they dehydrate and die. You may have to treat more than once to get the eggs. Oh, as long as you don't get any in your tank everything will be fine. HTH

Welcome to ARC! You couldn't find a nicer group of people!
  8. I'm sorry to hear that. I had to remove my emerald because he ate a bunch of my zoas. This was despite additional feedings of nori. He may have been hungry. IME they become aggressive about their food the older they get. Again sorry for you loss. I hope that helps explain it some.
  9. No. He is fine. But I was nervous for a while. He is about six months old and into everything. I've heard of animals dying from zoa.s, drinking the water they are in and things like that. But I had never heard anything about mushrooms. So, I watched him closely but I am happy to say that he is OK.
  10. I would go with t5's. Your coral will thank you for it. I have pc on my nano still and when I move coral from it to the t5's they give a lot more color and just seem happier all around.
  11. Oh wow! Looks great. Is that a flaming hawkfish? I want one so bad but don't have a big enough tank. Hum, sounds like I may have a new project after my husband and I set up the 15 gallon we are working on. Anyway, I bet your fish love swimming through the rock work and I love the cave you built!
  12. Very nice! I like it.
  13. Very cool, love the rock work! Waiting is the hardest part in this hobby!

Still have some of the candy canes(#6)?
  19. After cleaning up a dead mushroom my cat got a hold of the mesh with some of the shroom goo on it. He had it in his mouth. Should I be worried? (I was trying to get a mushroom to fix itself on a rock and the mesh and rubber band were too tight. It turned to goo.)
  20. Thanks for the help. I picked up a Stealth today and it's starting to heat up just fine. Hopefully it will stay that way. At least it won't crack and shock my hubby, the tank or flip the circuit breaker if it quits!
  21. Hey, any advice is welcomed! I like that those heaters aren't glass tubes. That's what cracked and gave my hubby a shock, literally, and flipped the circuit breaker. Thanks for the info and the links!
  22. So, my heater for my 12 gallon nano died last night. It was given to me and had done a good job. Now I have to get a new one today. Any suggestions on brands? The tank temp. is OK for now, not optimal but everything is hanging in there so far.
