  1. I'm selling prettty much everything there is. I havent' priced the individual items except for the chiller at $150, but if I could get $550 for everything down here, I'd be happy about it. I'm not trying to price things to keep them.

The tank is a 140 Oceanic. It is 48x24x28 with 1/2 glass and 2 overflows.

140 Gal Oceanic - dual overflow

    Stand

    EV120 skimmer

    chiller - Artica DBE200 - 1/4 hp - about 6 years old I think.

dual 250W halogen - mag ballast I think

    Tunze 6060

    Tunze autooff and osmolator

Eheim I'm using as a carbon filter

Mag 18 - probably needs new impeller

I could also throw in 4 5 gal water jugs and 2 30 gal trash cans only used for water

I have fans I've never installed.

  2. I've unfortunately come to the point where I need to sell my 150G tank that I've had for the last 6 years. Time just isn't there anymore with 4 kids.

    Selling off everything.

150-200lb of live rock - $2.00 per pound

    6" Blasto - $60

    Kryptonite Candy Cane corral - 15+ heads - $20

    Bubble coral - 6"+ when extended - $30

    Green Kenya Tree - 10-12" - $25 - 3 of them

    Sarcophyton - 4-6" - $20

    Green polyps - 40-60 heads - $20

    Ricordia Rock - 8 - $20

    1/4 hp chiller - $150

  3. I've never had any problems with the bristle worms that I had. When the tank was taken down for moving we found at least 4 that were 8 or so inches long.

I'd be interested in hearing about your DIY Bristle harpoon.

  4. Mark,

I've been very happy with my false Percs. I had five originally. One of them moved to a nano tank and unfortunately one didn't make it through the move to the new house. dontknow.gif

The three that are left don't leave the carpet anemone and have their own harem. They've never had any problems with the other tank mates or caused any problems.

They did get ick when I first had them, but I hear that's not too uncommon with this fish when they're stressed. I just gave them a freshwater dip and it solved itself.

I'm also jumping with joy as they've finally spawned for the first time. They're even letting the littlest clownfish stay in the anemone. blob7.gif

If you want to come by since you're in the neighborhood, just let me know and you can see if you like their behavior.

  5. Now that we've completed the move between houses, my 140 is in what will eventually be my office. Can anyone recommend a good in sump pump to replace a Mag 18 as a return pump? The key point is it needs to be quiet.

Moving the sump and the return pump to another room like several others have done is not currently an option.

  6. It looks like the tank is finally settling in now. Overall, I think the only casualty was the littlest clownfish. Everything is opening and seems to be getting over the shock of the move. I'll try to post a new picture in a few days.

Big thanks to Mike, Brian, and Stephen.

  7. All, I'm going to be moving my 140G to the new house on Sunday, Oct 29? If anyone would be willing to help with the move, I would be very appreciative. I'm afraid there's not brisket this time, but I can promise pizza and or beer (after the tank is moved naturally). PM me if you are willing.

    Thank you,

    Joe

  8. The brown algae is nothing to worry about. It's just diatoms - the simplest algae. As your tank matures you'll go through several blooms like this.

I would remove the fish and repatriate them to the LFS and add much more live rock.

I'd also start putting some macroalgae in the sump to help with the Nitrates as you start to develop those. It's also great to jumpstart the pod growth. If you want a handfull, give me a PM and I'll pull some out.

  9. When I'm starting to feel it's more work than fun I go vist other tanks. It's always helped me to get re-energized to see how someone else has arranged and stocked their tank.

Should we arrange a tour of tanks in the various parts of Austin for the next two meetings?

  10. I'm running 2x250 MH and 110 of actinics on a 140 that has about the same footprint of your 75 - same width, just taller and deeper. I keep all of my SPS in the top half of the tank and I haven't had any issues with keeping them.
