i think mine acted up friday night... for about 4hrs.  not sure if clearing the logs helped, or this fusion issue restoring helped (it doesnt list a date, just time)

Last night I removed the ethernet cable and have not had the problem today.

I did test my internet connection both last night and today. It has gone from (16 download and 3 upload) to (2.42 download and .06 upload). I use a modem that pulls the signal from an ATT 4G tower.  The latency is long at 1.43ms. The speakeasy test will not even run with latency that long. ATT must have an equipment issue at the tower. At least I hope that's it. To confirm I reconnected it to the internet and it went back to rebooting. The connection is so weak I cant even connect thru Fusion

Not sure if this is relevant to your issues but:

    NOTICE:

Yesterday, at approximately 19:45 PST we had a hardware failure to a key Apex Fusion server located with AWS. Our normal operating procedure for such an event went into effect and Apex Fusion was back to normal operation for all customers in less than 25 minutes.

During this outage, a percentage of Apex Classic customers (ApexClassic, Apex Gold, Apex Lite, and Apex Jr) were affected in that upon not receiving proper communication from this server, they reached a never-before-seen unstable state, and then subsequently rebooted as a recovery method. We have reports that some rebooted several times. We are currently investigating this issue in an attempt to recreate it in our lab, and if we can do that, put in place a software fix to prevent it from happening in the future.

Second generation Apex owners (the “2016” model) were not affected in this way because they maintain connection and communicate to Apex Fusion in a slightly different manner. They simply lost connection with the Apex Fusion servers for that time while we were performing the recovery.

By 20:15 PST our server was back online and all Apex should have been back to normal operation. If your Apex remains disconnected from Apex Fusion, please contact our support team here:https://www.neptunesystems.com/support/contact-support/

No data was lost and no programming or configuration on your Apex was changed due to this downtime event. Your Apex should be operating normally at this time.

We apologize for this service interruption.

Do you know what day that was ?

I read a similar one posted on another forum about that problem and it was Sunday night.

  3. So what I once believed to be a stripped thin worm has now developed into a lot of mini brittle stars. They are big enough to see that when they move the body thru the rock one arm retracts while another comes out another hole. I have never seen one come out in the open even at night. Question. Do they eat pods? I know my wrasses have been munching but not sure if the stars are getting the rest of them as they move thru the rock work.

I guess depending on your comfort (risk aversion) level you could just carefully scrap them off with a knife.  The 2 CDC reports I've read involved heat to airosolize the poison and the other reports involve some other method that airosolized the toxin.   If teh colony is firmly attached and realatively easy to reach in your tank I use stainless steel straws stuck in the end of a siphon hose to scrap and siphon out palies (and other invasive stuff).  As far as it harming other animals palytoxin is found in a lot of other animals including fish so it's negative impact on your animals is likely to be minimal and species specific.

Im not worried about the toxin as much as I want to be sure i can get rid of them. Scraping them off will be ok as I will do that in a plastic tub under water. If i cant get every last piece off the rock do they spread like aptasia?

  5. Not to be a pain here but wanting to avoid pain. I found 6 brown palys on the rock my duncan is on. I assume since Im in Texas they are Texas trash. I can take the rock out to work on it. I have long arm gloves, goggles and a mask. Should I cut them off close to the base and paste over whats left of them with something like aptasia-x ? Or ??????

  6. Question?

What sort of water are we taking about? Well or city water?

A screw on filter to a hose is  usually a carbon filter. It will remove some chlorine and other particles

A dual filter like this will remove more, however it will cost some money. Not the best solution like an rodi unit, but its a lot better than no filter at all

  7. If you go the UPS route and want long term whole tank coverage, I hear, used fork lift batteries make for long run times, but boy are they heavy.

I guess the real solution is one of those battery wall units Mr Musk is manufacturing. A friend of mine has 3 in his garage for his solar panels.

Your 2nd alternative could be a natural gas generator with a automatic transfer switch.

I wonder where the geo reactor fits into that mix

I run a geo with a fast drip and bubble counter to control the ph. Comes with a great re-circulation pump. I have 2 block/screw clamps about 18 inches apart, to control the drip. This way neither one has to be tightened down too much. I think this helps prevent any clogging. I have some bubble build up in the top of the reactor. I just unscrew the probe nut slightly to let the gas out. I do this about every 2 weeks, but can prob wait a month between off gassing.

  9. Yes when power is restored it boots back up and makes any necessary changes in your power outputs. Lets say on a power outage you have your outlets power off and just leave your pump running. That energy bar would need to be on a ups or generator so it has power.  When power is restored it will turn anything that needs to be on at that time, back on.

I’m curious why not the other pumps more often? I know powerheads gunk up, but wouldn’t the same be true for all the other moving parts throughout the system?

Since I have a hammerhead/ cuda and  a dart/snapper, I dont want to mess with the seal. If it does not leak, dont touch it

If I had something like a MJ1200, with the floating impellers, I would clean them a lot.

  11. I clean mine every day. hahhaha not

Mp60's - I change the foam screen every 2 weeks and rub off the hair algae stuck to the cage.

Intake screens in overflow box - Same as above

My reactors run off the main return pump and that chamber is very clean. I run socks and do not have fuge in sump. So unless it makes noise or I see a drop in in my overflow height I dont clean it.

Light fans - When I see dust like lint on them I get out the mini vac.

I would guess Im a wait for build up person.
