  1. Pink Cat's Paw used to be everywhere, but you hardly see it anymore. It comes up on LiveAquaria every so often if you want to check it out. As far as I know, that's the only stylo that's pink with pink polyps. You can also try Rose Stylophora or a variety of Rainbow Stylophora, which have some pink but aren't monochromatic.

Thx. I did see LA had these and may buy a frag
  2. Looking for easier SPS to keep. Saw a bright pink stylo in Aquateks display tank that looks vibrant as hell.

Researching shows it was a Stylophora Pistillata, supposedly very common but dont see many ppl selling. Anyone have some?

I clean everything, it has 4 bearings that I use pipe cleaners on.  Don't know what happens if you clean less than everything, but the bearings make a huge difference

Agree. I feel if you clean only the bearings, you will restore 80% of the slowdown.

  4. Craziest thing happened tonight while I was feeding my tank. My 3 yr old Midas Blenny inadvertently got pricked by my Mag Foxface, and went into involuntary spasms.

Within 4-5 minutes it had stopped breathing and laid dead. I even have video footage of the spasms, since I was in the middle of taking pics of my kiddo near the tank.

I knew their spines were venomous. But assumed most fish would be able to avoid contact.

My wife also witnessed the whole thing. Incredible bummer. Especially when its one if my older fish from my previous 75g. It was always laying eggs everywhere too..

My 3 yr old kept asking what happened and I just kept a pokerface.

    Has anyone experienced something similar?

  5. Hang in there man. It definitely can get discouraging when you spend so much $$ and energy, doing what it takes to keep your tank and parameters at "optimal level."

I am just about to hit my 1 yr mark and ive already lost as many or more corals than that. Some were my fault 100%, some it was probably 0% my fault.

Alk spike is the most common issue I heard too. Then lack of nutrients. Then too aggressively using GAC and GFO. After eliminating those on my last additions, some still suffer.

So LED burn is the only thing beside some metal/element contamination that I guess can be causing your situation. I cant figure out my own either, so don't trust me lol!!!!

  6. I am due for a big update, as I have finalized my fish stocking and started adding Acros the past month or two.

First though, do y'all know if all Par Meters are created equal?

Want to measure my PAR for my 2 Kessil Ap700s and was unsure if some meters measure LED better than others?

Saw RCA had a Sunsystems one which I know nothing about (or any Par Meters for that matter) But I'm also willing on renting from other members if they have other recommendations?

  7. Got it. My only reason I am even thinking about getting one so soon is because I'm going out of town for 1 month in December.
And the fact that I would be able to monitor my alk without asking someone to come over and test is nice.

I could then tweak my co2 PH on FUSION as needed.

But if my trip was only a 7-10 days, I probably could delay getting one for another year till my corals actually start growing ha.... but if I'm gonna get one in a year anyway, shouldn't I just get one now?

Look at me trying to convince myself smh.

  8. It's doing it's job. I still haven't given it full control of my alk... Just monitoring for now. I think I'll give it full control in another month to decrease or increase my alk as necessary.

Only frustration is getting it online but that's because of my ISP. Most others aren't having this issue and its not an issue with the unit itself as it works with my phone as a hotspot. I would recommend for those looking for an alk controller.
So does it need a spot on the eb832 for you to monitor alk via fusion?

And sorry for a dumb question, how do you plan on it controlling your alk more? Will you program your carx ph range to adjust based on results? Is that possible?

I test bi-weekly on Wednesday and Saturday.  Saturday I do the full regiment; Wednesday I only test alkalinity, phosphates, and nitrates; sometimes calcium.  I dose manually on those two days depending on the results and try to maintain 3-5 ppm.  Last three tests it's been staying around 1.5 - 2 ppm on its own and I've left it there without dosing.

4 ppm No3 and .02 PO4 would be considered good numbers by a lot of people.

Well my No3 could arguably be 2ppm since its a blend. Acros are just paler than when I got them.

Ive pulled GFO and just pulled GAC, since something is too sterile here.

    Good luck.

Are those the felt type socks? How do you plan to clean those? I guess the bigger ones would be easier to turn inside out than the 4”. I switched to the nylon ones for my upgrade. Gonna see if those work better. Someone told me they’re a lot easier to clean

They are alot easier to clean and clog less frequently.

With felt, never had to turn them inaide out. Just ran them in my washer  with no detergent and they cleaned just fine.

  11. These came from a system I just helped shut down and bought all livestock. They are huge and happy, I can even include a small rock with hair algae to start your garden!
I've had them in my 185g before at this size and they were fine, I just don't want to stick them in now because I am adding 7+ fish over the next few weeks and want to avoid fish being bullied into the urchins and getting injured. I have a 1 eyed eel because he was too aggressive trying to feed around a longspine previously.
One is a little smaller than the other, but they are both big guys. Here is a terrible shot of them both in a bucket during transport to give you a better idea of size.

Thx. Waaay too big for me but GLWS
  12. First i thought it was dying. Then I thought it had a fungus. Then I noticed my other fish eating said fungus.

Now i concluded my Midas has laid a bunch of eggs and had a bunch stuck on its belly and fins.

But even crazier, its lived by itself in my tanks for the past 2.5 yrs. Am i missing something?

Pics are hard. So the best i got.
