  1. Woah. This may be the real deal guys. Like Ty mentioned in the thread( oh my god, he's everywhere!!) If the design sells I could see it being an "apex ready" offering. just read his cost to produce is $500

  2. It's moved on to another plane of existence... nobody really looks at it as a build thread anymore.

    This was a build thread?...lol
This is still widely debated amongst modern scholars! There's legends of a build thread long ago. One that harnessesed the power of the sun...and lots of fans, but the records were lost in the era of madscientistTy... a radically progressive era in the time of Ty's.

  3. Oh man. the frag tanks growing up fast. I remember when it was just a gleam in its fathers eye! You'll be breaking racks to make frags in no time.

My photo taking skills is about a 4. Didn't finish taking pictures before the halides turned off but I got close. Sorry I'll work on the picture taking eventually :)

Looks more like a strong 6 to me... It's pretty hard to take them in shallow tanks, with the overhead glare from the lights...my plague.

  4. Does the Cerebra not have email/text alerts?

It will once the cloud is up and running. They underestimated the issues that they encountered transferring it from their in-house servers to the Amazon servers. While a little annoying, I have to keep in mind that the controller is still beta and that they completely took fault for the underestimation of the issues they would encounter migrating the cloud service to Amazon servers. It's refreshing to have a company straight out just say, my bad, we underestimated how difficult something would be and work their tails off to make it right.

There's a time to jump off the band wagon! Great customer support is one thing, but not having the dev staff to make the hop to AWS is concerning!

  5. Feel free to go ahead and delete this thread or bash me for my opinion (and prove my point) since i'm done anyway.... life's too short.

    Signing off.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I truly respected your input in posts. Do you mind telling what you intended to get out of ARC when you first signed up?

I can understand moving away from a community because you don't like the language, and direction of conversation. Been there.

I apologize for actualizing your self-fulfilling prophecy, but you left quite incendiary public comments that will garner a negative response from anyone that doesn't share the same outlook as you.

In the short time since I've started lurking the boards; I've have had a few, very enlightening experiences, and met some life long friends.

Not being formally associated with ARC in anyway I feel I can speak a little more from my heart and say that like any club I've ever been in - you get out of it what you're willing to put in.

I've been to several meetings where no ones said a thing to me...unless I initiated conversation. Sometimes you have to do something extroverted in a room full of introverts. I can honestly say I have never, ever, received with a negative response from anyone I've actively engaged with in person during an ARC event.

Online. like every....other....single..... forums, like RC, like NR, like R2R, like paddle board forums, like pup forums, like brew forums....since I've been able to use the Internet forums have functioned with social bluntness that is quite repelling, but also has an obvious purpose. Just like I don't believe you would say the same thing to people at a meeting, I would never dare confront you in person over such a silly thing either.

I know with all I've just said, there's no way you'll take it as not offensive. For that I am also legitimately sorry. Losing a member is one warrior weaker.

I'm genuinely interested in what you were(hopefully still are!!) looking for out of the club.

  6. What point am I trying to make? Let's not try to mimic ocean parameters exactly. We've got enough base information regarding growth in reef tanks that now the data is more applicable to their environment we keep them in. It's like me studying wild dogs to better understand how to keep my shih tzu happy. Ridiculous example I understand but hopefully the underlying message rings

  7. ...

I don't understand the electronic world and it's expectation that early adoptors should have to pay to beta test products. Even if it was for the "sale" price.

Completely agree. You see these setups constantly across software platforms now. It's like buying beta access to a PC game, just to see if you'll like it. Many of those, to me, seem to be money grabs just to keep paychecks from bouncing.

It should be the responsibility of project management to know that something is not ready for a commercial release, which is totally what it is. You can cover your bases with the *beta* tag all you want, but the fact of the matter is a product is still being bought by a customer, that has some perceived notion that the product will function as described at the time of purchase. Not, "pay for this feature now, and don't worry it'll be ready by Christmas"

    ...bahhh humbug and barnacles.

All that being said, I still think the cerebra will find its niche, and as long they have solid CS - it will have loyal customers.
