  2. I am wanting to downsize and am considering parting out my 100gallon reef tank. Of course, it's the same old story. sell livestock, corals and liverock first. coral list is a gorgeous galaxy star on a softball size piece of live rock 50.00, nice frogspawn 25.00, huge green star polyp growing on a large piece of live rock, you would have to pay for the rock and coral both. several button polyps, red, blue, orange, green neon and green hairy mushrooms, leather corals, orange ricorda, yellow sun polyps, feather duster, kenya tree, probally forgeting some, there are so many. livestock includes a mimic tang, sailfin tang, 6 line wrasse, foxface (2) 4 stripe damsels, 4 chromis, equip is a 30 gl sump with mag 9.5 pump, lifereef 700gph overflow, ASM G2 skimmer with sedora pump, 644 watts p/c retrofit fit lighting. 254-9396253 will post my pics after I finish post here. 254-939-6253

  3. I would perfer to sell it all as 1 unit. Here is a pic of tank with moon lights on. The pic of the tank with day lights on is before I added a few pieces of liverock and the other rockss now have some color.

Are you parting it out? If so, what are you asking for the mag 9.5?

  5. I have decided that I have too many saltwater aquariums and have decided to sell one of my saltwater aquariums. I have for sale a 75 gallon drilled reef ready aquarium. It has all the necessary plumbing for the overflow and return lines. It has a 20 gallon long sump. Included is a brand new mag drive 9.5 return pump with ball valve shut off connected to it. Included is a brand new 48" lighting fixture. This unit has (2) 24", 65w power compact sunpak bulbs. The fixture also has a cooling fan and 2 white lunar moon lights. There is also included a seaclone 100 H.O.B. skimmer which works perfectly. The stand is unique because the two end doors are built so they can be quickly removed and the center brace can also be easily removed to make adding or removing a sump a piece of cake. There are a few pieces of live rock and also a 1" or more of carib sea reef grade sand in the aquarium that can be included with purchase. 385.00 for everything.I am not looking to make a profit, just want to get what I paid for the lighting and pumps back. 254-939-6253

  7. I had the same problem when I used chemi pure to kill red slime algae in my tank. The first 3 days it would foam over the collection cup and then the next 3 or 4 days it would fill cup with clear water. I either had to leave skimmer off for a week or stop using treatment.

from what I've read, skimmers going crazy is a typical result of dosing vodka. Most people report that the skimmate is dark dark brown though.

  9. I have ordered from dr's foster and smith before and they stand behind their products. Their livestock is sold on their other website: live aquaria.com. I had a star fish I bought from died within 14 days and they kept their word as promised.

most of the better on line retailers do have a guaranty. And I have only herd good things about Dr. Fosters.
  10. I need some live rock for my 75 gallon FOWLR tank. I have some frags I would be willing to trade for some L/R. I have a kenya tree, yellow sun polyp, blue and red mushrooms, orange mushroom/ricorda, leather mushroom, .green star polyp. I have some pom pom zenia that are growing loke crazy and can get a frag of those. I live in Belton. 254-939-6253

  11. pc bulbs need to be changed every 12 months, is that right?

It is hard to go wrong with the generic reflectors from hellolights.com.

You can usually squeeze the clip back together on older fixtures. I have seen people use rubber bands, zip ties, and twist ties to keep the clips tight. The reflector itself will clean up with a little vinegar.

  12. I have 644w of power compacts on my 100 gallon reef tank. I don't know the brand name of the reflectors or bulbs I have now. I know they were a retrofit kit(s) from a discount supplier. It will be time to change the bulbs soon and I was wondering what a good quality brand name bulb would be as replacements. It's hard to find any info as far as quality brand name reflectors for pc's. Is there a quality brand reflectors for pc's? The bulb clips don't hold the bulbs in place well at all. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  13. I read somewhere that 14000K mh's do not require an acentic bulb, however, most people like the actinics for their corals that will glow under the actinics. most people don't mix softies, and sps in the same tank. sps require high lighting. you could put your sps in one area and let your mh's shine on them. I run 644 watts of pc's on my 100. 4x96w and 4 x 65w and keep mainly softies with a few lps corals at the top of my reef nearest the light.

I have 2 light sets. One is a T5 with 4 10k white and 4 attinics. I bought a MH set up that has 2 250w bulbs and some type of attinic moon light in it.

What type of lighting should I have on a 135 reef that is limited SPS, Polyps, Ricordia, and is going to have mainly soft and LPS coral.

Do I need attinics with the 2 250 MH bulbs? Help.

  14. I have a 100g reef tank that I upgraded from a 55g last year or so. I wanted some fish that were hardy, easy to keep, different colors and different activity levels, reef safe and I did not not want the extremely aggressive fish. I just now finished restocking my tank after I suffered a 100% livestock and coral loss a while back. I have two 4 stripe damsels, a sailfin tang, a foxface, 5 chromis, a 6 line wrasse, 2 occellaris clownfish. I know the spelling is wrong, just too lazy to go look it up. I just added a cleaner shrimp and a green sea star. I have a few corals added now (softies) mainly and I have been pleased with the look and choices I made.
