I'm looking over setups now. I don't really want to go too complicated my first time around. I think I can DIY a system based off the RIMS brewing method.

This is excellent. I will check that site out tonight! I am pretty excited. I may start with the Mr. Beer kit just to see if I like the whole process. I am currently working on a kegerator project so I'd love to fill it with my own brews.

Do any of you guys or gals dabble in home brewing? I am looking to get into it as a hobby, much like my reef.... but much less expensive!
Maybe we could share recipies, pointers, setups, etc
Looking foward to hearing from you guys.

Basement? Not sure if in Austin or....
I WISH I had a basement to devote to a sweet reef tank. I may one day fulfill my dream of building a basement bar with a showcase reef. -
Aggies? Booooo
LOL Just kidding! Welcome to the site!

Sad news to hear people can be so heartless. Hope they catch the guy and feed him to the sharks.
The link doesn't work anymore...

Not bad! I love that stand!

I really like this setup. Thanks for sharing.

So it's best to keep a lagoonal tank a bit "dirty" when it comes to nutrients or orgnaics in the water column?

This is incredible! Thank you for sharing this. I have been wanting to get into clownfish breeding for fun and to maybe spread the hobby out to others. You are an inspiration!

92*... Ouch. I've done something like that before. Except when my heater failed, it didn't turn on so the tank got cold.

I am going to have to try and experiment with mollies. I really like how odd they look in a reef tank. Plus their fry can be food for the other inhabitants.

I read a rumor in the Reef Central thread that the new WP25 will have built in speed control. I only hope this is true!

Lawnmower Blenny!

Did you already get your 29 setup? I just drilled it like a few days ago. You work fast.

Nice aquascape!

This week I'm going to be building a linking system to hold the lights at a pre-determined distance from each other. I am most likely going to end up hanging them, however, I would like it to be a single solid fixture instead of 3 individual pendants.
I'll post up CAD drawing this week when I lay it all out.

That is so cool! I like pool tanks. The ability to look down on everything is pretty neat. Good luck on your build. Everything seems to be top notch!

I am going to end up filling my stand with sound absorbing foam. Since it's a complete enclosure I get a nice hum from all the equipment inside. It's not loud, just annoying. I am going to try and source some of that pyramid shaped foam.

I found 1/4" Acrylic at the Home Depot on 35/Parmer. Well, It's actually 0.230"... Close enough for baffle work. You should cut the baffles so that when you shut power off to your system, the drain back doesn't overflow your sump. If you're going to use a skimmer, you should also take into account it's operating depth.

Nice lights! I just recently switched to LEDs myself and I don't know why I didnt do it sooner.

We started our first saltwater tank today. Got 23 lbs of live rock, trying to figure out the layout is harder than it looks. Also bought the protein skimmer that goes with it. I can't tell if its adjusted the right way so any tips would be appreciated. I'm going to let this set up for a week and then hopefully purchase my first frags to start coral and then add some fish.
From just setting up the tank to adding corals within a week? Slow down there buddy. In order to help you out with the skimmer we're going to need some pics and maybe a good description on what it's doing.
Hopefully we can help!

I use my Xenia as currency lol
I've done that before. LOL

So, Brooks, If you just got yours, why are you selling it? Is there something you don't like about the equipment, modes, quality, etc?
Not at all... I just bought 2, and only need 1 on my 135. LOL.
Really? Do you have it on full blast? I have two in my 125. However, mine are dialed down to about 50% in ELSE mode.

Exactly. I was thinking of using those igloo coolers. I have a basic design in my head, I can engineer the entire system, simulate heat, liquid flow, etc.. That part is easy. However, I'm no chemist.
