  1. To answer some questions... Blueline 10k bulbs are currently in them...no clue on the age of the bulbs but would recommend replacing them. I currently don't have a working camera as I tend to drop mine :-(. Since I don't have a camera let me try to explain them to you. The ballast is silver in color, some electric pro decided to cut the wires going to the lights...I have soldered all lines and used heat swrink (I am no total noob to wiring, i've rewired many cars during engine swaps). Hoods are in great shape, reflectores show no damage but will need a small clean up (which will be done tomorrow). Will I be willing to trade? 250's are still a little high but will be easier to work w/ than the 400's. Pm me what you want to do..I am looking for a straight trade as close as I can.
  2. Well after much trail and error im trying to find a much smaller mh for my tank, i currently have a pfo 400watt x2 ballast and lights. lights Im looking for a smaller hailde, around 150-200 prefer to be x2 due to a center brace in my tank...nothing is wrong w/ the bigger setup Im just to worried about boiling my tank. I had a impulse buy and think no matter what I do the 400x2 will just boil my water in the 55g .
  3. thank you for the link, now Im sitting here at 4am trying to identify the worms...so far I have 2 differnt colored worms, I hope someone will chime in. one is gray (these are my longest ones in the tank...and a pita to catch...) so far looking around I see Hawaiian Orange Fireworm as the match for these guys... This is what I seem to be catching ALOT, today I saw one that is so far going to be my record if I can catch it, stretched 16in long...and moved like there was no tomorrow. The other woms are more redish pink kinda like i found on another site... I will be adding a wrasse and arrow crab by sat...if anyone wants worms feel free to pm me and I will be more than happy to let you go worm hunting in my tank.
  4. I will be more than happy to lend a hand in unloading the tank.
  5. It's bad when you walk up to a tank and the first thing you notice is all the bristleworms...i have a seabade anenome the size of a grapefruit when its closed...and unfortantly ppl first ask hey what is this worm sticking his head out of the rock? If you are really ordering worms for you tank you can allways let me know how many you would like....i can drop whatever i trap in a smaller tank and let you swing by to pick some up. I look into the arrow crabs to help bring down the overwhelming amount of them in my tank.
  6. I've been reading alot about these scary little creatures however in the last 4 minutes i have spotted over 60 large bristleworms in this tank (im talking some are way over 6inches), I also noticed every time one of my turbos fall and is upside down a bristle worm (one of the large ones) seems to jump all over it. Out of the 20 turbos i had I am down to 5, I've checked my water and the only thing I noticed is my salinty was low (1.020) and did a 10% water change and got it back to normal. I have a small pvc tube w/ holes in it, capped at both ends (i've dropped krill in the tube) and dropped the trap down into the tank. I've been able to get about 20 worms (large ones) out a night for the last week, however is there anything else i can do to get these larger ones to come out? So far my record catch is 14in shrunk up...and I know there is larger ones in the tank. Any suggestions or anyone want to come over and collect some worms :-).
  7. Wow im watching the news article online...I can't believe Terry would do something like that, he better have a **** good explation.
  8. Well since its only a couple blocks from my house I will be there!!! I'm off of dallas drive....but am noramally haning out w/ a friend on Tamayo drive...cya there! I will be bring my roommate w/ me so he can learn a little about fish tanks.
  9. in this picture, there are actually 4 babies, one is camera shy and is hiding under here neck.
  10. So after writing in the blog today about how tired I was my min pin decided to give birth!! After setting up a new kennel she decided to have them on the ugly blanket that was sitting in my closet. I was actually at aquatek to discuss how to drill and plumb a extra 55g i have sitting around...when i came home i was suprised to see 2 new puppies! I ran downstairs to grab a heat lamp and a few new blankets and call a vet friend of mine...when i went back up stairs i noticed there were 3 puppies and another on its way into this world. 4 puppies so far and my more mother looks so drained...if you read the blog you will see how much I care about my dogs. Every animal in this house is part of my family and I never refer to them as pets...this is my view on anything that relys on me feeding it (so yes everything in my fishtank is part of the family). Im jumping up and down w/ joy that this so far has been a smooth birth but it isn't over quite yet, the next few days are going to be walking on ice. I am expecting the vet to stop by in the next hour to give the mother a clean bill of health (ie no dead puppies still in her) and check every puppy. I so far had to unwrap a cord from a puppies neck and hope this lil pup does good. I havn't looked yet to see the sexs, i won't till momma is a lil more stable. This is the 2nd litter and in honesty wasn't really wanted...I will be taking the lil boy in for a snipping on monday and when she is able to be fixed will happen. The boy is very worried as he is sitting next to the closet door and starts to cry if something is going wrong, he was the one that notified me about the pups cord around the neck. I will get a pic of the pups once they are all cleaned up..i don't want to gross anyone out as they are still wet. Wish her luck and pray we don't lose any of these innocent little babies.
  11. Im going to agree w/ you also, that was a very bad location and bad history...the second owner had a problem on her hands when she decided to take over it. It like a pet shop in lakeway...its been going for awhile but is in its 3rd ownership and allways had a bad name. I give it to the last owner he was doing saltwater, freshwater, furry lil animals and repitiles and even took a big step and ventured into selling dogs and cats. A couple days ago I called them up to see what there salt water stock was and sure enough he said he was closing his doors, he sold the lot. Im going to head out there later today to see if any of his LARGE fish tanks are going to be on sale or if he taking them w/ him. Flippers Pets is what the place was called.
  12. I've had to deal w/ this alot...first thing is to inspect it (while doing so ask if they can go any cheaper), make sure the item is in full working order..ask about warranties, the orignal place purchased so forth. If the truth hasn't come out by then give them the price your willing to pay and tell them you know who they got it from. Most ppl are looking for a $ and will look online at what items are going for and try to get a little under the "new" prices.
  13. Enigma- if your looking for a sea hare, i recently bought 2 for a major hair algae outbreak, by monday I will be looking to get at least one out of my tank. I'll pm you my number..
  14. It's as big as a quarter, and is currently residing in a 29g cube.
  15. what kind of anenome is this?
  16. I hope this is a pod...any ways i used a Sony Cybershot DSCW55 7.2MP Digital Camera. these lil guys are bugging the scooter bleeny, he will sit there watching this guys all day w/ no luck on being able to get them.
  17. about a hour after i turned the lights of in the 55g i noticed the yellow tang had a white stripe and a coupe brown spots (the last yellow tang didn't do this) so I did what I do best. I hoped on the computer and found out it is common for them to do this when they are sleeping or stressed. So this morning i turned on the light and almost instantly he was back to bright yellow :-). The sea hares in the tank have done a very good job on eating the algae, what they leave behind the turbo's are picking up. So today I plan on doing some maintance to the 29g reef tank in my roommates room, I am hoping to frag the hammer coral (branching) today and getting a 10% water change, we are battling a heat issue in that tank at the moment. Couple nights ago the tank when from 81 (lights off) down to 71, we have a temp fix on the hood, we lifted it up 1/2 inch and it seems to make a huge differnce. There used to be a very very small snow flake eel in that tank but as he attacked and killed off the flame scallop and a hermit he was moved to the 8g. I will oon have him posted on this forum as someone here might want a tiny baby eel. pics of the hammer and the baby eel
