long time no post yall.

anyone ever kept bamboo sharks?

i have no intention of keeping one anytime in the immediate future but

research always takes time. I see a lot of things that always seem to

condradict the other pertaining to sharks in the home.

On some places i see mostly a 150 will be fine from reports of people

who have kept them while out on monsterfishforum i see 600 gal minimum.

i see them sold often enough, is it just one of the critters that has no business

being in a LFS? Or can they be kept at home with proper planning?

It's just a chunk of rock dude. Nothing to be proud about whatsoever. There is no independence to celebrate. US flags are made in China, so are the fireworks and everything else imaginable. Foreign interests precede our own. We're less free today than before Bush seized the country. We're all consumer whores and our lives only have meaning as long as we're buying things (and denying freedom to other countries would love to have an independence day from american aggression.) Enjoy the koolaid!

I am very sorry to hear that. I really am sorry you have no pride in your country or home. It amazes me honestly. 4th of july is when we celebrate our independence from england, when the ideals of farmers overthrew the most powerful military power of the time. We celebrate our group mentality as a nation that we are free to live, love and be. You have a problem with Bush? Ok so our free nation is going to get rid of him. Heck in San Francisco a group is going to rename a sewage plant after him in his honor. You think other countries could get away with that? No OUR FREE NATION gives us that right to ridicule our president to no end! That is what it means to be free. That is reason to celebrate.

Our privledges that is second to none is why americans were the first to fly a self powered airplane in the carolinas, the first to revolutionize personal trasportation from ford. Our flags are made in China? Many of thier crops are grown here...

Consumer whores... I am sorry you feel that way. I dont know what to tell you. We have money and people like to shop. I am sorry our country has been so prosperous that our citizens have extra money to spend and free time to enjoy hobbies not required to live like golf or keeping fish... Yes it is horrible that our country has been wealthy and prosperous. Being a world leader in technological advances is horrible for our people.

I am proud I live in America. I am proud that I can go to school and one semester study biology and the next study history. My friends in China do not have that opportunity. They can not study abroad. I have already studied 2x abroad because I have had opportunities to, by winning scholarships to study in Japan and France.

Sure we have problems but the fact that we CAN do something about our political or social issues is why we celebrate the 4th. That we have the OPPORTUNITY and RIGHT to change the way we think, act, vote, believe and behave... I love this Country and Proud to be American.

I am Proud to be American because of all the opportunities I have had and been able to take advantage of. Here is a land where anything is possible!

I'm missing my tank and considering a small biocube, maybe 10g or so. Is this big enough for a couple of seahorses? How do you buy them and gaurantee they won't have babies (just want a few!)?

yes and no. you can keep the mini seahorses, zoes (nickname) in a ten. actually its easier in a smaller. BUT you must make live food. they ONLY eat live food. as such it takes weekly water changes, daily live cultures grown, so basically heavy maintenance.

you "can" keep larger horses in a ten. like .comes, .erectus, etc. BUT they will outgrow it and if your willing to upgrade as they grow then sure. small pen for small babies. but as they grow they need bigger playpen. about a year if you buy em young. it does take much less maintenance but you will have to upgrade.

as far as babies its rather easy, just get one sex. all girls etc. if you get from an online dealer you can order just one sex. they are easy to tell apart.

but whatever you do STAY AWAY from kellogi. they are cheap but due to the way they are bred and raised they do not have the best record and "will most likely" pass disease to other farm bred seahorses. but that is my advice on that others may tell you differently.

So you had the dual monitors enabled in your video card settings? When I've done this in the past, I had to change all the settings to indicate that the other monitor was a TV.

I don't think it's the cable, but rather video card capabilities.

your right. it has to be that. because all of a sudden when i click the fn+F4 the button on my hp that switches video modes. the tv will flash the computer screen for a moment before turning off then goign back to my laptop. so i know the connection goes through. i just cant figure out how to make it stay.

under the display settings i can have 2 monitors. also under nvidia it can be tv + laptop screen. but so far i cant figure out how to configure the settings so it just stays up on the tv. what i do seem to of figured out is if on display settings i enable "extend desktop to this monitor" essientially 2 monitors then the video mode switch shortkey does nothing. but if i disable it then the tv will flash the desktop for a moment before flicking off then reappearing on the desktop.

so if upgrading the pump is not an option i need to make the overflow utube smaller in diameter?

im thinking some teflon tape and tape up 30% of the intake end of the tube?

i had some time and i was trying to work on the computer. i found a chord in a box that is a 7-pin svideo to yellow RCA. i thought hey use the TV as second monitor. i know the quality is low but hey that would be neat.

the yellow end is in the tv, plugged to the computer via 7pin conversion. turned everything on and nothing happnened. the computer worked well. the computer was working as two, i believe because the mouse scrolled right of the screen a ways then took a ways to come back. but nothing came up on the screen. not any indication that any sort of signal is comming through. i tried changing the video settings etc.

i know the input works. i tried plugging in the dvd player via a 4-pin svideo to the yellow chord and it still didnt work. so im guissing its either the yellow chord or the svideo input?

the tv shouldnt care what information is being sent to it? does the svideo to that yellow chord converters work? is it likely that just the yellow chord is bad? do they go bad? i tried the computer on the other input and nothing happened.

anyone have ideas?

if your corals are not too sensitive ive found that keeping the tank 100% dark for 48 hours kills it. draping towels etc over it. after you weaken it vacume it up and do water change. solved my prob. but that chemi poweder does work. i should have bottle at the house if you want it. i wont be using it any time soon

the set up for my aunt runs a 55 with a sump. water to the sump is from an overflow box. i was just told that there has been problems with the sump, it keeps running dry. she adds water and in a day or two its dry again. the return for the sump is a magnum 350. today when i checked it the utube had a big bubble in it which is why no wter flowed through it.

1. why does the utube get a bubble in it? how doese that just happen?

2. could it be the 350 is pulling out faster than the utube is getting in? so i just have to add some utubes?

The youngest where kindergarten age, and the oldest I would say where early teens (15 tops). The groups are split up by age, so the biggest group was maybe 10-12 kids. Our group was 8 and 4 adults. Check out their website (seaworld.com). They have a bunch of different sleep overs. Ours was with Jack Hanna which I think is only once or twice a year, but they have lots of others year round. We were there from 5:30pm Sat, until 8:30AM Sunday. The park was closed almost the entire time so we were the only people there other than the employees. It was very intimate. Plus you have plent of time to see all the sites with no crowds to bother you. It is kind of weird being in the park with such a small group though. They only noises are the seals and dolphins.

it is. it is sooo nice to be in the park looking at the animals without the little kids screaming at the 400 different "nemos" and such.

a bit on the older side. ive done it with the boy scouts. and i did it when i was a kid. the eldest i remember was a 16 yr old but majority is 13 under.

i have a seascooter that i have to sell. i need the $$ for tuition. i used it in the river last week its a lot of fun but i need the cash. i would pawn some fish equipment but i dont have any left to pawn. idk how many divers there are here. asking 150$

im workin on my aunts tank but a little problem. trying to lower the ph down to 6.0. discus. and so far its nutral. what we did was add a handful or two of that pelleted peat stuff for ponds. its working but only a little bit. does this sound like it should work? other easier ways to lower ph? i liked the peat pellets because she didnt have to mess with it.

clean water is clean water. rodi will not hurt the tank. but its kinda scary that the crawfish died. they are dirty water creaturees, they are the ones that normally live in rivers and whatnot when other stuff cant survive!!

One of the better local dive locations is Aquarena Springs. You have to take their special course and can only dive when you schedule to do so, but my understanding (never actually done it) is that visibility is wonderful. You can find a lot of info if you just Google Aquarena Springs and diving.

Obviously, while not exactly local, two popular places that are at least in or around Texas are the Flower Gardens off the Texas coast and Balmorreal S.P. The local dive shops all have fairly regular trips to both. We have been planning to do the Flower Gardens trip for quite a while, but are waiting until the kids get a little older since it requires leaving them with friends or family for the weekend (two-day liveaboard is the standard way to dive this area).

i just got out of the water from aquarena. because it is our school our school classes can dive there and do that course free, or part of our lab fee. it is wonderful. full full full of colorful fish, light vegitation and the hoops and such are fun to practice bouyancy control swimming through. the visibilty is great. ''

if the sump is too small there is a way around it. for the T back use long tubing. instead of 6 inches back to the sump, use like 10 ft coiled back to the sump. this way all the head eats up the energy.

probably be a lot cheaper than building a new sump
