So I noticed that the led's I have plugged into the "light" outlet of my apex turned on for about 1-2 seconds this morning, hours before they were supposed to turn on. I called Apex support and they said that it was due to a power surge triggered when one of the other devices on the Apex turned off. The only things that could have been turning on/off are an eheim heater or an aqualifter pump. I also have a jebao wp25, but the outlet is set on "on". He suggested I buy a single surge suppressor. Has anyone else had this issue? Should I worry that there is stray voltage going into my tank?

I got the full apex set up a few weeks ago. Everyone on here was super helpful. It was a little difficult to set up (thanks Uverse!) as far as e-mail and remote access, but once it was running, I was glad I purchased it. I think set up will be much easier with the new release. Anyway, I was able to monitor the tank while I was on vacation, turn on lights when my friend came over to feed before the lights turned on, etc. I should warn you that if you're already obsessed with your tank and spend way too much time on it, this will only make things worse.

Vaquatics has them for 15% off (see their sponsor page) but I didn't see the newer version, only the 360W.

Our order is scheduled to be delivered on Monday. It's currently touring texas (Dallas yesterday, Houston today). UPS usually doesn't arrive until after 4, but I'll be around most of the day Tuesday (and most weekdays) if anyone needs to pick up during the day.

Thanks for the responses. I rechecked today and KH is down to 8.6 (it was at 7 on 11/19 so I used BRS sodium bicarbonate to raise it to 9.8 on 11/22). Magnesium is at 1440 (up from 1440 on 11/19 - testing user error?) and CA is down to 540 (from 555 on 11/19). I did a 20 gallon water change on 11/18 (it's a 100 gallon tank), but I usually change about 10 gallons weekly (I have an oversized skimmer and about 160 lbs live rock (thinking of taking some out at some point). I've had problems with alkalinity going down/being low, so about 2-3 months ago I dosed magnesium and started using 1/2 teaspoon of Kalk per gallon of water in the ATO. CA and KH were still going down so I started adding vinegar to the kalk and increased to 1 teaspoon/gallon. That's about when I started noticing the increased ph. Other than that, I dosed the sodium bicarbonate when the kh was below 8 and calcium chloride when the CA was under 400 (haven't done this in over 2 months). I stopped dosing kalk since last week. I'll start water changes and hope that helps. Again, thanks to everyone for their time.
BTW, the RBTA seems to be growing back its tentacles, so fingers crossed!

My understanding is that the guys computer crashed and that he lost some of his contacts. You might want to reach out and make sure he has your info.

Thanks, Timfish. The link wouldn't open, but I assume it's the same article that is in reef central. That's where I got the idea of using vinegar and carbonated water to lower it. Unfortunately, it goes right up. I'm thinking it's probably the probe, so hopefully my calibration fluid comes in soon. I have the old packages from when I calibrated a month ago - should I wait on new fluid or test with the old fluid in the meantime? When I started using the probe (month ago) it was around 8 and started creeping up from there.
-
Thanks for the offer, I ordered some calibration fluid and will hopefully have it by end of week.

I'm not getting any precipitate, and I stopped dosing about a week ago (started refilling the ATO with R/o) so I'm not sure why it's so high. I'm testing with Red Sea.

My ph keeps going up (currently at 8.57), it even goes up at night. I was dosing kalk but stopped because of it. I've tried lowering it with carbonated water. It goes down, but comes back up after a few hours. Using a lab grade ph probe on my apex to measure. Calibrated it less than a month ago. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Only thing I've noticed is that the tentacles on my RBTA are shriveling up and falling (it basically doesn't have any). My other RBTA is fine. The RBTA didn't start losing tentacles until after a week of the ph increases. KH about 9.3, Magnesium at1400 and CA at 555.

Order placed. Thanks everyone.

I've heard from almost everyone, and given that most people want the hc gfo, I'd like to place the order by 11pm tonight. If I do that, does anybody know if we can add to it in the morning? I'd hate to leave anyone out, but don't want the people ordering hc gfo to miss out.
-
Hopefully tomorrow morning. The high capacity GFO is. "Limited quantities" so the earlier the better. I have enough for free shipping but holding off on ordering to give people that expressed an interest to get their order in or let me know that they're going to pass.
-
Still open. Waiting for people to send orders/money

I can put it in as soon as I get fighting hippos order. We're at free shipping, so please pm your order and I'll send you my PayPal address if you don't already have it. Would like to do this ASAP before things go out of stock.

how much? and high capacity or regular?
-
BRS has a good sale going on. I'm at $100, so wondered if anyone was interested in joining to get to free shipping at $175. Thanks.

Karma was not very nice to me....and I'm such a great guy! Glad things worked out for you. And thanks to Tim and Sam for getting this together.

So after opening the package labeled B552, it doesn't look like the WYSIWYG ...I'll have to reach out to Will on this one...but maybe someone else has B552?
-
Hey, FloridaBoy, I have B552; however I think I had already ordered prior to your order. If you look at the first post, it's under my name and not in yours. Hopefully you weren't charged for it. Also, I'm missing the "orange freckled rhodatis"....didn't anyone end up with it?

It was set at 8 instead of 6 -but the time was correct. I have now changed it to 6. Hopefully that solves the issue. Once again, thanks! I searched on the webs and didn't find anything, so apparently I'm the only one that couldn't figure this out....

From my web interface it shows the correct time, but when I log in through the iphone Apex ap, it shows 2 hours behind. As soon as I selected "sync with iPhone clock", the lights turned on (it was 9:02 - the web interface showed 9:02, iPhone Ap showed 7:02 before the sync). The second set of lights turned on fine. Same thing happened last night. Lights didn't turn off as programmed, but once I corrected the time on the iPhone Ap, they turned off.
-
I thought I'd keep it simple and used the drop down menu. The only thing I changed from the default was the time on and off.
Fallback OFF
On Time 9
Off Time 20:30
Shutdown probe TEMP
Device Shutdown value 81
Hysteresis 030:00

Still trying to program the various outlets...I have some lights turn on at 9, my Apex Dashboard on my computer shows the correct time, but the lights did not turn on. I then opened the app on my iphone and saw that the time there needed to be synced to my iphone clock (it was two hours behind). As soon as I did that, the lights turned on. The same thing happened last night when the lights didn't turn off. Is there a way of setting this so that the dashboard clock is the default? Or, is there a way that they iphone app can be set so that I don't have to sync it every day (I'm worried that if I can't log in for some reason, things will be delayed by 2 hours)? Thanks. I was hoping the hard part was behind me.

the clock is correct (13:37). They turned on for the 1 to 2 seconds and then turned right back off. Then they turned on normally at the set time. The thing is that they don't do it all of the time as I've only noticed it a couple of times - and I stare at my tank A LOT - as I work right next to it.
