  1. I just came in to my office this morning to find an area about 2 1/2 feet wide around my tank where the carpet is wet. The amount of water in the tank is lower than it should be for the amount of evap that would happen over the weekend, but there was still enough in it for the pump to be running. I can't figure out where the leak is and I don't have time to deal with this now because I have patients scheduled as well as computer upgrade happening today and a big anniversary party going on at the office this coming weekend to finish planning! Is there someone on here who is a professional tank maintenance person who can come out and look at it? I left a message for John with Fishworks, but I'm afraid to wait since I don't know where the leak is. This is NOT a good week for this to happen!
  2. PM sent on birdsnest and zoos.
  3. Even later notice, but if you've got extra, I'll take some.
  4. I'm planning on coming, but I'll be a little late because I work until 2:00. How long will it be going?
  5. Okay, right after I said the 5th was good, I saw that my sister in law had emailed me that my nephew's bday party is that day, but it's over by like 1:30. I've missed his parties the past several years for various things just like this (ie important to me but probably don't sound important to others, lol) so I'd like to go. My DH has taken our girls the past few years without me and I feel bad. Anyway I don't expect you to schedule around me either, but if it's up in the air whether to do it early or late afternoon, pick late! toothy3.gif
  6. SShhhhhh! If he posts pics, there will be MORE of us who want them. I don't wanna share! *psst, Robert...you've got my email addy, right? You can just send me some pics, okay?*
  7. I think the 5th works for me too. happy2.gif
  8. I knew it would end up happening while I was gone! Oh well, I'll think of you guys while I am in Italy. Bummer, me too. I'll be in Ohio the last weekend in July, from Thursday til Sunday. sad8.gif
  9. One of my close friends just told me today that her fiance, also a good friend of mine, gets to hang out with Lance Armstrong and two of his other friends when they go to the Tour de France next week! He gets to ride in a helicopter with him and everything. I thought that was really cool. My friend (the one who's going) is a serious, but not professional, cyclist. Having read Lance's book (at least the first one) I think he's probably a major jerk personally, but you gotta respect athletic ability like his and the determination it took to come back from the "Big C" like he did.
  10. Use Miracle Grow, Robert! I'd like some too! happy2.gif
  11. When you've got the time and date set, can you start a new thread to announce it? This one's getting kinda long and some might not know to check it to find out about the meeting.
  12. Thumbs up here on the Sonicare too. My dentist recommended it and I got one a year or two ago. Clint, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I hope you feel better soon!
  13. The phosban's doing great, Mike. Thanks. It's probably time to change the carbon in it again tho. I got some hydrocarbon the other day. What's that stuff you told me to put in there with it? Carlos never can remember the name of it either, but they said they'd finally gotten some in and sold out of it immediately! More drama with the roses. One of them is doing great and has finally settled in one place where it's been happy pretty much since I realized I still had two of them. Unfortunately, the other day I found just a very small piece of the other one near my tube anemone. crybaby2.gif I guess they got in a fight and the rose lost. I stuck what was left in a hole in a rock and it's still hanging in there, but there's not much of it. I'm pretty hopeful that it will make it back again though. It did it once already! I was really glad I have two of them though. Insurance.
  14. Hey Mojo, what do you do and where is your office? I love to see nice tanks in public places. Mine is at my office too, and I love having it there, but my staff thinks I'm nuts with all the time I spend messing with it. I guess that's why you want to have the RK huh? You actually want to get work done at work? A 450, that will be nice! Let us know when you get it going!
  15. I just started noticing some cyano in my tank too and it definitely correlates to me feeding more because I recently added a sailfin tang. Previously I only had a couple cardinals a firefish goby and a 6 line wrasse in my 75g. Also, I recently started feeding more planktons for the corals so both those things have added up to give me the start of a cyano bloom. I had been ignoring it until now, but I better get after it before it becomes a big problem. Robert, thanks for the link. That was indeed very helpful. I need to cut back some on my feeding and keep the skimmer nice and clean, and get out the turkey baster to suck that stuff out!
  16. The manager at my office plays A LOT! He plays in tournaments and is just about on the level of the pros. Call my office if you want and ask to speak to Garin. The number is 339-2020. I know he really likes a course in Georgetown, but I don't know where else he plays. He lives in Wells Branch. His last big tourny was in Lago Vista. Just tell him you know me from the fish forum. He'll be glad to talk to you and might even want to go play sometime and show you his favorite courses. -Sundra
  17. I got two orange polyps now, up from one lone survivor. They don't seem quite as bright an orange as they used to be, but I'm hoping as they recover the color will brighten up.
  18. What do you know?! both pieces of the Rose BTA survived! Now I have two beautiful rosey anemones! I'm so happy! blob7.gif happy2.gif
  19. Sorry I hadn't been watching this thread as closely as I should have. The box is down at my office and I'm home now. I want to say it's 11" X 12" for a footprint, and maybe 15" tall. I'll try to remember to measure it tomorrow and post. No need to pay. Enough people have given me frags from this board, I feel the need to give back a little, although this is very little. If you're interested, PM me. I'll be more likely to see it if I forget to look here again. **edited: Now that I look at the pic again, 11" X 12" doesn't sound right, does it? I'll check tomorrow. You can call my office at 339-2020 to remind me if you want. That number will be answered "Parmer Eye Care". Just ask for Sundra.
  20. I was given a small frag of a toadstool, and rubberbanded it to a rock. I didn't think I'd banded it too tight, but the rubber band cut it in half. So then I had an even smaller frag. What I ended up doing was putting it in a hole/low spot in a rock and making a "cage" for it with rubber bands to hold it in place. It was sitting in this little divot in the rock, not exactly a hole because I didn't want it to slip down in a deep hole. Then I took 3 or 4 rubber bands and just stretched them across the hole by hooking them over bumps on the rocks. When it swelled up and opened, it was touching the bands, but when it shrunk up at night, it didn't. I left it that way for at least 2 weeks and it finally attached. When it got big enough that it looked like the bands were putting pressure on it, I took them off one at a time. It's doing great now. HTH. If it's too big to make a rubber band cage around it, maybe you can just find a hole the right size to stick the stalk down in so it doesn't float away.
  21. I have this from before Hammondegge redid my sump. I had put it up on MAAST and a guy said he wanted it, but it turned out he was in SA and didn't realize I was in ATX. So I thought I'd ask here if anyone wants it. I'll hold on to it for another week, then I'll have to "file it". It's got that little skimmer with it too. Not great but it works.
  22. That's a really great deal! I wish I could take advantage of it, but I've already got my June aquarium budget spent (I'm trying to start disciplining myself after TOTALLY blowing it the past couple months) and I've barely made a dent in the bucket of TM I've already got. I hope you'll do more buys like this in the future. How long does it take you guys (Clint, Mike, Robert...) to go through the amounts you're ordering?
  23. I wish. You say the words "reef tank" to my husband and he envisions dollar signs flying out the window. We have enough of that happening with planning this house already, I think his head would explode if I said we needed to design in a tank. He already knows from past experience how I am about buying stuff to go in a reef. confused5.gif I'll have to settle for finding a place for one after we've moved in and gotten over the sticker shock of building a new home. For now I'm happy being able to play around with the one at my office, and it's a bonus that it's deductible as a business expense. Sorry to hijack your thread Carlos. How are my little sailfin and clown doing? I'm really excited about them! Are they eating well?
  24. Okay, bad news first. I was so upset Friday I couldn't even post. Just before I left the office I discovered that my beautiful Rose BTA that I got from Aquadoc/Mike was caught in the overflow and had been torn in two really busted up pieces. Both pieces looked so bad that I almost took them out, but I had seen stories of anemones recovering from some pretty bad stuff so I decided to put them in the tank, make sure the skimmer was working well and see what happens. Well, I went back down there Friday evening and they were still hangin in there. I checked on them again Sunday and at first I thought they were both gone, but my 6 year old was able to get her head around the side of the tank where I couldn't and could see at least one of them. This morning I was able to see it too! I don't know if the other half is still around or if it's fish food, but I'm really happy that at least one part of it is still alive. It's on the back of a rock, so I can't see it very well, but I was able to see enough to know that it is inflating tentacles and there are at least 7 or 8 tentacles (maybe more) that seem to be in a somewhat normal circular arrangement. I'm tempted to move the rock so I can see it better, but the whole problem was that it was constantly moving all over the tank before its accident so since it's been in the same place for at least 24 hours I don't want to upset it. I'm just going to leave it alone, maybe do a big water change tomorrow and hope for the best. The other bit of great news besides that the anemone is hanging on is that I was looking at the rock that used to have the super-bright orange skirted zoos that I thought had all died and there is one and a half polyp left of them! Woo Hoo! blob7.gif Now I just hope these two small vestiges of my two favorite items in the tank will survive and flourish. I really thought both of them were toast. With the zoos I had accepted their loss weeks ago. What a great surprise to possibly get them back!
  25. Sorry, can't help you there. I've never had either one. Wasn't there an article on RC about jawfish a while back, or was I just reading a long post about them? It seems like it was in that online magazine they have. I didn't even know that sanddollars were in the pet trade. Have you actually seen them for sale, or were you thinking of collecting from the "deep blue"?
