  1. Saltwater by itself should help it heal. But letting corals rub all against it... not good.
  2. When I had my bowfront aquapod 24g, I used a razor blade also (the edge going up/down).... Just be careful if you have rounded corners. I knicked mine up a bit.
  3. I have a regular magfloat, and the biggest issue is any algae down near the sand line. I wonder if this would solve it.... (use a razor blade right now).
  4. I expect a video if you use dynamite
  5. Planning on going tomorrow at lunch to get mine.
  6. ^^ Great explanation.
  7. Doesn't ORA normally = Big $$$?
  8. Some basslets can also be detrimental to shrimp... but they are a good alternative to groupers. I would say most groupers will eventually outgrown almost anyone tank. That being said, I always loved the panther groupers, because they had that "waggle" like a clownfish. I had one many many moons ago. Was a cool fish, but yes, loved the shrimp
  9. Wouldn't be a secret now if people told ya? Sorry, but I don't have any.... I think most of the secret places get outed here with big group orders I used to love SeaCrop.com before they shut down. They fragged damaged large corals, let them heal, then sold them as rescue corals for really good prices.
  10. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/23/science/23aquarium.html Eh, doesn't really provide any earth shattering stuff, but I found the increase in numbers harvested between 1994 and now interesting. Plus it is an actually article on hermits and peppermints
  11. Why don't you start a new thread in the Livestock For Sale section for the corals you are selling, that way this thread can remain for just the tank. Thanks
  12. Do a google search for actinic led, it turns up lots of stuff (I was looking at one on Amazon) but I am sure other retailers have them. And of course check with our sponsors
  13. Ok, I was afraid I might be the only one who was not 100% happy with the coloring I am getting with my Phoenix 14K's. Everyone raved about them, so I thought I would try them. I actually think I was happier with whatever 20K's came with my Coralife fixture
  14. The only low item I have in my sandbed is an acan, and they have not covered/flipped it (yet).
  15. My cucumbers (I have 2 in my 75g, one black and one yellow) don't really dump sand on my sand sitting corals. My main problem is they seem to like to curl up around them, which sometimes knows them over (I noticed on of my frogspawn was knocked over this morning, and they love curling around/under them).
  16. So far, yes they have. But like Zarathustra2 said, they might change again if I switch the type of light... which I kinda hope they do, as I bought them because I wanted some yellow centered zoas. Right now I have a growing green back from the center of the colony going outwards
  17. Nothing wrong, just the corals adapting to your tank and lighting. I have some zoas that do this also. They start off yellow, and eventually turn to green.
  18. Great suggestion ... I was actually thinking about this and started some basic research last night.
  19. Hey, you read my mind ... I was thinking about this same thing with my tank. I currently have just metal halides over my tank, and after seeing Mama's tanks, was thinking about adding in supplemental actinic. Now, to those suggesting upping the K on the bulb. Yes, you get more blue with the 14K and 20K bulbs (I am running 14K phoenix bulbs), but you don't really get the color "pop"/"glow" that actinics bring out in corals.....
  20. Like Robb, I have never had a quarantine tank ... and there proabbly has only been once that I could have used one. Since I don't add fish much (haven't in quite a while), I guess I just don't feel the need for one. But this thread is generating some great ideas for having stuff handy!
  21. I didn't realize they were local... I had perused their site a while back.
