  6. I really like my eheim 1250. Its been a work horse.
  7. Most Austin Glass stores sell it. Alamo Glass & Binswanger glass both carry and cut it for you. You can also ask them to flame the edges for you.
  8. I second victs response, Change AT&T's router internal ip address to 192.168.0.1. Restart it, then manually change your computers address to 192.168.0.5. (windows XP log off and log back on, 7 u r ok) you then should be able to see it. And do whatever you want. There is not harm in leaving the configuartion that way. The subnet mask 99.9% of the time will be 255.255.255.0. You shouldn't worry about it. -M
  9. Have to say if there was a battle of the ada tanks, scaping, corals colors... I lose. Hats off my friend well done. Amano himself needs to put your tank in his display. For anyone who is not suscribed and wants to know what true aquascaping is about... http://www.youtube.com/user/aquadesignamano Take a look! -M
  10. I love the sketchup work and the rendering. The idea is fantastic as it is very unique and allows for a wide range of creatures... The only thing I might bring up and please don't take this as a criticism, is the tanks orientation in the room. I would venture to say the original tank shown in the picture, works best as a peninsula. I would just have a hard time looking at that tank from the sofa... I would feel like I was always looking at the system from the side. 2 ways to correct it for me would be switch the orientation of the shelf/ and or drop the front side of the 1st shelf down. Its hard to describe but you would in essence be making a side shelf and a front shelf. If that is the goal of the entire tank, then my apologies as I just missed it but I thought I would throw it out there. Our tanks are our centerpieces. Cheers
  11. Here is a problem I ran into. I bought live rock that came from Florida via Aquadome. I spent so much on the rock budget wise i had to wait to buy sand. All of my rock was in the display. When I started adding sand (a month later) I noticed there was substantial more worms and live stuff happenging in my display than in my DSB in my refugium(because I didn't add any rock to the refugium). You can seed it yourself by transfering sand to and from your display but you run the risk of disturbing your dsb and releasing bad things into the water. I really think you need Live Rock just for the worms and other flora/fauna to seed your dsb in your refugium. I have been up and running since august with zero algae problems and no cyano issues. I bought a mix of dead argonite and live bacteria sand. (not live sand from someones tank) You can also seed your sand/refugium with an order from http://www.ipsf.com/. Make sure you get the mama mia worms because they are so cool looking. I would also recommend having them all up and running together, in fact I would even say it might be smart to have your refugium running before your display. The die-off will give your macro algae the nutrients it needs to get a good start.
  12. Picked up my first SPS from the Dome and wouldn't ya know it A Hitchhiker!! Got me an Acrocrab! Will see if I can maybe get a good picture of him at some point. Also picked up a nice purple bubble coral that is fully open and looking great. Thanks Guys! If you haven't seen it yet the dome is decorated for Christmas! Go and take a look!
  13. The only thing I remember from my research into both is that with the apex you can "control" stuff remotely via web interface. With the reefkeeper you can log it but you can't control it remotely. I have no experience with either so take that with a grain of salt. If someone can confirm that please let me know.

  17. Thank you guys for entertaining a dream tank and also providing some great information about how to do it cheaper. It was kind of my first run through of, if money were no issue, what tank would you have in your living room kind of thing. PBNJ if there is anything I have learned so far in my limited reefing time it has been that less is more it seems. I hooked up a calcium reactor because I had it and got a steal on it, but I didn't need it. In fact it caused more problems than it fixed. So in alot of your statements about not needed I might take a second to third look at those items and see what detriments they could bring to the tank. To that same extent the first thing I am replacing in my tank is my koralia 2's with mp10's. I think the wave will look cool on a rimless. I think my fish might benefit from night mode and I think the display might benefit from the pulsing by removing waste. Now those are all thoughts rather than experience talking. Cheers to you guys and your much larger setups though.... One Day!!!
  18. What is the difference between a Giesmann 400W 14k bulbs that goes for $80, and your plusrite for lets say $17. Seriously WTH am I missing something? OK so obviously you can do all of that for less to make it a bit more real for the rest of the masses. I was mainly pricing full price from the manufacturer on tanks that I see online, like the reef in the sky or melev's ect... that seem to get alot of their gear new, and completely top end. I guess it was just an observation that it seems there are alot more people that have spent up on that level than I would have thought.
  19. Some people might look at that list and say well you could do LED's instead and cut out the MH's/T5's/Chiller. From what I have read is that the LED's will not reach the bottom of a tall tank, where as the MH's will. Honestly one of my favorite things about my current tank is the MH and the shimmering effect it has. LED's are supposed to have that too I think, I just don't have any experience with them. You don't need the zeovit, criptic zone, refugium or the controller but that only adds up to $1500. Sorry I meant to write Starphire Glass on the tank above. And I missed a calcium reactor/kalk reactor. $500
