  1. Another lesson is that death is not always final in the saltwater world.

Similar thing happen with a neon orange fungia of mine. It died & withered away to bare skeleton.. I just left it on the sand bed, a brittle star eventually flipped it over, and I never gave it another thought. Several months later, 4 babies budded off the side & are slowly growing. I've been meaning to cut or break up the skeleton to let them develop on their own. I don't have any experience with letting several individual fungia grow off one common base. All the fungias I've ever seen or owned have been their own individual.

I've had similar experiences with softies, LPS, & SPS.

So don't ever give up on em!

  2. Last chance.

There is a little bit more time to get in on the order if you want something from AquaSD.

    Free shipping and 20% off!!!

He'll be bagging things up in the next couple hours and shipping it out. Will arrive at my house in S. Austin tomorrow.

If you want to place an order, give Will a call directly. 619-665-2466

  3. Yep. Get an idea of what size & kind of tank you might want to keep & watch the classifieds. There are some amazing deals to be had. Have a little patience and you'll be able to pick up a crazy good deal.

    Welcome to the club.

  4. Just talked to Will at AquaSD.

The group buy has qualified for Free Shipping, AND 15% off the entire order! We're actually only a few $ away from hitting the 20% off mark. dribble.gif

If you've ever wanted something from AquaSD and didn't want to pay shipping, or the price was a little over your budget, now is the chance.

  5. I've got a BioCube 29 that I want to add a bit of flow to.

I was going to pick up a coupld Koralia Nano (425gph) pumps for that purpose.

I just noticed that MDepot has 2 JBJ oceanstream 550gph pumps and their lil wavemaker on sale for $65.

I know the Koralia pumps are pretty standard and are tried and true. From what I've read, the JBJ's are rebranded Koyu pumps that have been around for years. While cheaper made, they seem to have favorable review and no complaints. A friend has the JBJ 28g cube and it comes standard with their wave maker, and he has been completely happy with it. It's not Super adjustable, as it's 8s -10min, but seems to be a decent bare bones wave maker. I've seen the specs on the Koralia Nano's and they seem to be tiny at about 2" diameter. I haven't found exact specs on the JBJ's.

I'm not too concerned with the difference in flow rate in my lil cube.

Reviews for both pumps has been very favorable, so it's looking like the JBJ's wouldn't be a bad choice for now. Eventually I plan on getting a controller for the Nano, but in the mean time, the JBJ would be a bit of a bonus in that I could get a bit of change in the circulation vs. just going with two of the Koralias.

My question is if anyone has first hand experience with the JBJ pumps and can give me personal feedback. Having experience with both would be great!.

Any thoughts in general on one vs. the other?

Thanks and any feedback is appreciated.

  6. A friend of mine upgraded his JBJ 28 CF to the LED and no longer needs his old hood. He's not a member, so I offered to post it for him. I have it here for pickup/delivery and can take pics.

It's the PC version with 4 LED's. Comes with all the power cords and is complete (plastic splash guard, hing pins etc).

It has the bulb in it, but it's time to be replaced.

The hood itself is in great shape, hasn't been mod'ed or messed with. It's 2yrs old, so there is a bit of rust around some of the screws, but nothing you won't find on any used SW equipment.

He doesn't want to get a lot of $ out of it, and hopes perhaps it could help someone that needs a replacement ballast, moon LED, or something from it. So, $25 takes it.

  7. Just placed my order. We are for sure getting free shipping. Kim hasn't put in her order yet, but with that one, we should be at the 10% discount & moving toward the 15%.

The way the discount is going to work: You place your order. Will sets aside your items and waits until Monday evening to send you an invoice. The order window closes Tue at close of business Cali time, but we should have a good idea what the total order amount will be Monday evening. He'll send out invoices with the discount we qualified for. If we somehow hit the next discount rate on Tue, he can adjust the bill, or throw in extras to compensate.

As KimP said, pickup is at my house, which is at Slaughter and Manchacca.

I'll post on the thread as soon as the items hit my door, and your welcome to come pick them up. I'll be working from home that day and be at the house the entire time.

  8. I can't speak directly for them, and you may want to contact them to clarify; but when I've inquired about it in the past, they said that any eBay item would incur the $50 S&H fee.

If you purchased eBay items, any additional store bought items ship for free.

  9. Just got word back from Will regarding the discount.

You'll place your order, and AquaSD will hold the payment request until Sunday. They'll send it out Sun or Monday, when they have a good idea what the discount will be, and your bill will reflect the discount.

We'll easily qualify for the free shipping, so hopefully we'll also hit one of the discount price points.

  10. Hi all

A few people wanted to get an AquaSD order going, so I'll take the initiative and kick it off.

The group order will begin today, and will run through the close of business (California time) Tuesday 8/16. Our combined order will ship the next day (Wed 8/17) & arrive at my house Thursday 8/18.

I'll work from home that day and will be around to receive the package and people can swing by to pick up their goodies as soon as it arrives.

I live in S. Austin @ Slaughter and Manchacca. I work in RR and am open to bringing something up N. the following day, but not sure you'd want your stuff sitting in a bag so long.

The order is pretty simple. You peruse www.aquasd.com at your leisure, & order via the web or by calling them directly. Be sure to inform them that your order is part of the ARC group buy. At the end of the order window, they'll combine all the individual purchases and ship them in one package.

Qualifying for free shipping shouldn't be a problem at all. When I talked to Will yesterday, he said that they do provide discounts for group orders. I sent him a pm asking him to clarify how it's applied, and will update the thread when I get an answer.

    Total purchase:

    $500 = 10% off order

    $750 = 15%

    $1000 = 20%

Will & crew have always been very friendly and helpful, so don't hesitate to call or pm them if you have any questions or to place your order.

I'm also available if you have any questions for me.

    -Jason
