  1. I have a thin layer of crushed coral in all of my tanks. Soak it in RODI water for a few days before introducing it.

as for the live sand, I've never had it but definitly reccomend pulling it out bit by bit.

+1 I really recommend crushed coral but in a thin layer. its easy to clean with a gravel vac and it adds a great buffer for your alk.

  2. I've had the opposite experience. Got a tube about a year ago at Aquadome and I've been using it since. Get good adhesion with it too. I'm happy with it.

Maybe they altered the formula since then?

    ???

seems 25% success rate so far, not good for a product. I feel its just a cheaply made product that is marked way up to meet their other price margins. I made sure to not even get the tube near satl water, and the thing still solidified.

I've had great success with just normal Loctite gel, I will go back to what works good.

I really like the loctite gel bottles. Never have had it get clogged up. Also the military has a huge contract with loctite and we used it all the time on the guns (not the super glue).

And I recieved 2 free samples at C4 and both were solid so lower that rate a bit.

  3. Anyone interested in splitting the 400g of Argent Cyclop-eeze fish/coral food for $94.99? The 100g is out of stock and they say it may be months. Dave, if I buy that food, I'll be at around $150. How much are you looking to spend?

    total of $45

  4. Just wanted to say THANKS to everyone that got corals from me! I hope that each one will bring joy to your tanks as they have in mine! Happy reefing!

    your the man mitch!!!

  5. has anyone made there own fish food?

I have several times, but just use pellet food right now. Food processor. Get and clean some raw wild shrimp, oysters, clams, squid. Add some sperulina, nori, blanched spinach, and commercial flake or pellet fish food for additional vitamins. You can put it in ice cube trays or a plastic bag and flatten it out and freeze it. You can also add oyster eggs and other diet specific foods. I've heard of people using multi-vitamins, but watch out for copper and other metals if this is for a reef tank.

Just about anything will eat this stuff and it works well for fresh water in addition to salt water fish.

Best bet is to go to central market for the raw seafood. They usually carry everything fresh in their seafood section and you can pick it out individually. They will ask why you're buying small amounts of random seafood though...wink.png

Thanks I'm going to try it out
