  1. Very odd. I guess Current USA makes a fine product

From researching a bit online, it appears the ballast is electronic. I admit I don't have much electrical knowledge. What are the pros/cons to just continuing to use 250w bulbs? I've been using this fixture for a few months and even with the old, mismatched bulbs my SPS seem pretty content.

  2. So this is a ridiculous thing to admit, but I have no idea whether or not my metal halides are 150w or 250w. :) I got the fixture off my brother-in-law used and the box and instructions that he provided me with say that the bulbs are 150w HQIs (DE). However, I purchased 2 150w DE HQIs and they are both too short and have the wrong connection on the bulb. In looking around online, the bulbs in the fixture look like 250w DE HQIs. I don't see any wattage listed on the bulbs. Does anyone have a 250w DE I can borrow to test my theory?

Here's a picture of the bulb I pulled out:

Here's what the 150w bulb I bought looked like:

Here's what the 250w bulb from the same sight looks like:

  3. Both pumps were used until recently. They could probably do with a cleaning, other than that they are good to go. The Seio M1100 powerhead appears to retail for about $53+ and is rated for 1100GPH. The Mag 2 retails for about $50+ and is 500GPH. It was my skimmer pump before I got a Mag 5 to match my return pump. Not sure how much they are worth second hand, so I'll just ask for the best offer.

  4. Hello All,

I bought a purple/green LTA from Aquadome a few weeks ago. My clowns like him, but I really want to get a RBTA. He's maybe 4-5" when extended. I'm open to a trade for SPS, zoas or livestock. Thanks for looking.

*Picture taken on my cell phone under actinics and for some reason has a green tint.

  5. I have a purple and green anemone for sale. When I got him a few weeks ago, the guy at the Aquadome said he was an LTA. I'm not 100% on that though...

He's maybe 4-5" when extended. I've had him in my tank for a few weeks and he seems fine (my clowns liked him), but I recently moved the powerheads and he dislodged so I figured I would sell him before he reattaches because I (read: my wife) really want a RBTA. He prefers the sand bed and seems to like a moderate flow. I have 2x150w MH and actinics. I've also fed him some frozen shrimp.

I paid $40 I believe, but I'm open to offers, especially if you can get him tonight. Oh, these pictures on an iphone (sorry) under actinics only.

  6. Hey Lamont, Glad to hear it looks good! My birdsnest is happy so far, it was a much bigger frag than I realized :-)

My main pavona coral is in the top half of my tank, but it has grown down the rock quite happily. I also have pieces that have broken off living on the bottom and seem to be doing ok. I would say I kept that frag of yours about halfway down in my tank.

  7. Definitely not recommending it, but for what it's worth I have a powder blue in a 75g. This tank was my brother-in-law's until recently and the fish has been in there for several years now. He's still pretty small, but he's a total tank bully. He'll probably have to get pulled out of there before too long for both his own good and the good of the other inhabitants.
