I agree on the ammonia spike. How long do crawdads live? This thread brought up memories of when I was little and my brothers and I used to go 'fishing' for crawdads.. down at the 'river' ... (Picture three kids in the sewers in KS chasing after crawdads)
LOL
I had fw for years and didnt use r/o. Never had a problem.

If the shrimp is ok and the fish are dieing, I would have to lean towards a problem with acclimating. If there was an ammonia spike, the shrimp would go first in my opinion.
Firefish isnt that hardy of a fish so wouldnt suggest starting with it again though.

Thanks so much. Everything is doing great and polyped out.

I would be interested in the caps and the hammer. I go to school on Monday and Wednesdays in San Marcos and would like to pick up in the late afternoon (fiveish) if possible. Otherwise, I could come pick up this weekend. Jill

I would deffinatly suggest doing a little reading about that six line. There are other wrasses that are not as territorial. If you are about done adding fish and not going to add any pseudochromis or those type of slim long fish, then it wont be such a issue.
I added mine to get rid of a very similar problem I was pulling out bristles that were eight cm wide and over 12 inches long, on a regular basis! Once they get past the size that a wrasses will eat, they just keep growing and growing. The six line did take care of the problem, but then killed a purple pseudochromis and a another wrasses that I attempted to add later.

Wondering if the site is down.

I have a koralia 4. Its no tunze, but it moves alot of water around still, compared to a regular powerhead.
I am decently pleased with it, and at $50 (Horizon has them for that price, same you get online!), it was a pretty good deal.
I dont personally know about the seio.

150 lbs LR...............$250
What type of rock is this? Do you have big and small pieces? Would you split up and sell like 50 to 75 lbs?
Thanks, Jill

We recently lost our female saint bernard and just one drooly dog in the house just doesn't seem right. We are looking at different breeds but the mastiffs are on our list. They do not have a double coat so less hair!! but their personalities are very different and not exactly a great family dog especially to have around children. Unfortunatly there are alot of backyard breeders who are out there just to make a buck and do not care if what they are breeding is a good representative of the breed. Alot of the mastiffs out there do not look anything like the mastiffs you see at the show.
A great place to start http://mastiff.org/faq/breedref.mv
If you like big thick gooey slobber shoe strings on the couch, wall, blankets, and clothing, they for you. I love a good shoe string slung on the ceiling blob7.gif

I am wanting to make an order from Blue Zoo Aquatics. I am in Killeen and can receive on a Tuesday or on a Thursday. If anyone is interested, please let me know. I would like to order on Wed. If no one is interested by Wed morning at 12, I will go ahead and put an order thru anyhow. I would like to split shipping with someone and get the fish for my new tank I set up before the old fish get too comfy and I can't put fish in there without them battling the new guys.

Anyone interested in an order thru pet solutions?
They have a 25$ shipping charge. Hoping to get at least three people to go in on a group order from them. I am wanting to order a few tangs, sombe gobies, coral band shrimp, star fish, and a few other things. I am in Killeen so receiving the order myself isnt going to work unless those that get in on the order are one of the members that are in this area
Let me know as soon as possible. Thanks, Jill

Sorry.. 10% discount.

Well, for us that are a far reach, someone comign and taking pics wouldnt work. No worries though that my tank will win tank of the month for a very very very very long time disgust.gif

I had a tank disaster and also lost my clams. I feel your pain.
Sometimes I feel like I should have a computer monitoring service hooked up to the tank taking readings throughout the day so if anything unordiary should happen, I could just go look at the readings and see what might have caused it. Sorry to hear about your clam and better luck next time.

I only measure clacium and alkalinity about once a week. I moved and reset the tank up so keeping a closer eye then normal. I usually just watch if my xenia's hands are waving at me. If they are less then usual or not, I know something is a bit off.

I need rather a large order.
If anyone is thinking about reeftopia, let me know. I am in Killeen, but will have to come through austin next week. If an order is over 200$, I believe it gets a 20% discount. I will be placing an order next week regardless. If anyone is in the killeen vicinity and just wants to get in on it, let me know. I can pick up if the order is done through austin, or I can have it delivered to my home in Harker Heights.
I will want to order...
Hermit Small BlueLeg (300 @ .25 Each) $75.00 $75.00
Snail Cerith - Per 12 - $15.00 $15.00
Crab Emerald - (12 @ 4.00 Each) $48.00 $48.00
Star Serpent $6.00 $6.00
Total: $144.00

I am still pretty much new at this but what about the lights? How long ago did the lights get changed or is that something that could also effect it?
When I put my sebae in my tank, it was white and hated the halide lights. It took about 4 weeks before it would stay put under them.

T5 lighting

I would think you will be more happy in the long run with the T5s. Here are my two reasons.
The main problem I see with going with a halide on your setup it the amount of water versus the heat being added. Your halide would have to sit 12 inches off your tank to maybe keep the temperature down. And that is a huge maybe. Unless you have a sump that is adding alot in water volume to your tank. I had a 250 halide over a 60 cube and my heat would climb to 83 to 84 during the day on hot humid days. T5's run cooler and wont add as much heat to your water.
T5's also will give you a better spread over a three foot tank. A halide usually covers two feet well, but with a three foot tank (in my mind, I am thinking 29 gallon is a three foot tank, if I am wrong then never mind), you will have a little less light in the corners. T5's you can order for the length of your tank.
That being said, I would hate to miss out on the shimmer effect of halides
Good luck in your choice in lighting.
