  1. Good scores, and hope your nano goes well. I havent dealt with a nano in a long time, but kept a 2.5 gallon at one point. It was ALOT easier though as I just went and grabbed a few gallons out of one of my 180's, and did a quick half or gallon water change a few days a week. I have a rather new to me 34 gallon solana with a total of about 55 gallons of water with my sump and frag tank and this 'nano' is kicking my butt. :)

I had a 'sump' on my 2.5 tank so it really was two 2.5 gallon tanks. The ato was a drip system I could hide easily. It would be easy enough to set up a drip system on a shelf above yours if need be but just be very careful.

    Good luck.

  2. I am doing this after coming around a reef central thread. My bearings came in the mail Friday. I hope my mp40 vortechs are dead silent after they are done. One has been bad since the moment I got it. I lived overseas so didn't send it back. It sounded like a freight train when it revved up after about 2 years of use. The other steadily got a little louder over time. At this point, I think of the vortechs as the worst monetary investment I ever purchased in this hobby.

Hoping for silence... even though I ain't even using them on my current tiny tank. Just tinkering with equipment for my big tank on hold build.

  3. Tank. Is drilled and very solid. Just the tank, no stand. 650$.

It doesnt look like I am going to get to set this up anytime soon. I dont have to sell it though, so dont bother low balling.

Original thread when I got it is here. http://www.austinreefclub.com/topic/23639-tanks-for-salecheap/ Has been in storage since. With the help of a fork lift, tank is in my truck and can be delivered for a fee depending on where. It is a beast and four big guys are going to be needed to get it out of my truck. Is on a pallet.

I can send pictures if someone wants more, but do not have any of the tank on my computer to upload currently.

  4. I have maybe 60 lbs of sand. There may be more but I dont know exactly. It is whitish colored sand, not the pink. Has shells and stuff mixed in with it. Came out of a tank 4+ years ago. Dry. It is in three plastic containers. 20$ takes all.

Also one black sand, that had some miracle mud thrown in to it. I think it was two bags of sand. Was used in the sump. Dry as well. Is in a 5 gallon bucket and is about four inches from the top I think. 10$

Pickup is in Pflugerville, off dessau road/wells branch.

  5. Don't mind at all. And I do think I stole it!!

I would loved to haggle and get it lower, but when it comes down to it, 50$ off isnt going to mean that much to me sitting over here in Dubai. And my brother getting assistance on moving it, is nice as well. I just wanted to get a big tank secure to know what size I am going to have when I come back to start buying stuff for it.... I had my heart sat on a 8x30"x30"... but whats a foot when your saving an arm and a leg!

  6. whistle.gif Been waiting for a big tank to come round. Super excited.

Will have to wait until I finally escape back to Texas to set it up but hopefully that will not be SOOOOOO much longer. And I get time to buy goodies for it over the next few months, for when I do come home. Going to have to sit a while empty but am still super excited!!!!!!

    Thanks Stephen wave.gif

  7. I think am at like nine or so years in marine tanks. Had freshwater before.

First was a 135 gallon tank. Ghetto rigged lights the guy had rigged from shop lights that had what I thought was the coolest yellow tint. Not reef ready. Learned to hate HOB overflows. Rather die then use one ever again! Had crushed coral and rock that was not reef appropriate. Had a few fish that came with it including a few tangs. Learned that marine fish are light sleepers and turning the light on will cause them to get startled and jump straight out the aquarium on the carpet smile.png And man the corals... smile.png some not colorful brown button corals and red mushroom hitchhikers on few of the rocks. I thought it was the most beautiful thing I'd even seen.

Looking at pictures of those first few days and weeks bringing home my 135 gallon was memory lane of ghetto rigging and what not to do smile.png

  8. I have a 180 tall that is an older tank... but would fit your stand. Its six feet, by the 18 inches, and like 30 inches tall. If you want the two by four stand, you can have it but its just a two by four stand with no skins. It would fit with your stand and hood you have on a 125.

If you didnt take anyone else up on their offers, 50$ and its urs. You can call me at 254 681 0924. I am in Harker Heights. Jill

  9. The tank is a 180 tall. Sits on a two by four very sturdy but not skinned stand. The tank has live sand in it that is about 2 to 3 inches or so deep on the bottom. Has about 3 inches of water in it now. Leaving it running so the sand stays alive. There is coraline algae all over the glass. I couldnt reach the bottom and stopped doing the coraline prob about May or so. There are scratches in the glass. Is not a show tank by any means. Is the older style oceanic. I do not know the age but is the heavy type, not the new oceanic crap. Has been up in my house for the past two years. My brother left it here and its just been running without alot of attention except me adding water and calcium, hence the crazy amount of coraline on the glass. The tank is 6 feet, by I think 30 inches tall, 18 inches wide. Wanting to get $200 for the tank and stand. IS NOT REEF READY. Have an overflow that is the never lose suction one (worked great and never had a problem with it restarting when electricity went out). Will sell overflow and plumbing with tank for 260$. We also have a sump we used for the tank. Didnt really fit well but fit. Its tall and doesnt allow alot of working space. Is approximatly four feet long, with a float switch in the sump, and drilled. Its acrylic and good quality. The edges are bent and not glued. I was told Pete made this when we purchased it in San Antonio from someone. Good quality. Sump is divided in two sections. If buy with the sump and the overflow, then will sell all for 350$. The pump i will give you for free. If you know how to take them apart and fix them, then you might get it to work. It is a little giant pump model. It was going out like five months agoish and I called my brother, who came over and said that it was something about a tooth or something that didnt look good. Maybe the impeller. Maybe you can order a new impeller and it will work. I didnt mess with it. He never came back again to bother looking at it nor did he ever get another pump for it. And I will give you the canopy, minus the lightss 'we' bought, that we got from reefer rob. Its for a 180 that is 24 inches wide but worked well. When its on the tank, the canopy goes back to the wall just to the point where the overflow sits. Masks most of the sounds. As well it doesnt let out stray light from the back end. Will not come with lights though!

So, first 350 gets a 180 system with a large sump.

If you bring $450, I will give you 80% of the rock that was in it (probably about 150ish lbs) and the complete system All you will need is lights, power heads and heaters! And maybe a pump if your not mechanically inclined or if you really cant fix it. I dont know how to.

He isnt ever going to take his tank and I am tired of dealing with it! Would prefer to sell the tank and stand before the other stuff as would rather give someone a good deal on the complete system then piece the overflow and sump out and then be stuck with the tank.

Best way to get ahold of me is to email me at jillnairn @ yahoo.com - remove the spaces. It goes to my cell phone. Thanks. Jill

  10. Get someone who knows what they are doing. I had mine doing by a 'reputable' company. Its already peeling up a year later. The guy who did it said it was because I abused the floor and saltwater got put on it (as well as other stuff) but in reality, after speaking with 'professionals' the color should never come up. It should be sealed in place. The person that I spoke with about my flooring said that they most likely didnt get the acid up off the floor and put down the sealer too fast. The sealer stuck to the left over acid and as the sealer is peeling up, the color is coming right up with it. Frustrating!

Also, because ours was not a 'fresh' slab of concrete and we had swirly marks from the glue of the concrete and linoleum, they put a light concrete overlay over the top. Worked well.

That being said, its not that hard to do yourself. I think the important part if after doing each step, make sure you clean the area appropriatly as suppose to.

I am going to have to have mine done. A $3500 waste of money! Especially when the cost of doing it is only like $1000 for supplies for my 1200 sp ft area that I had done.

  11. I dont know if you have had a persian prior or not, but thought I might throw a little info out there.

Persians are beautiful wonderful cats, that unfortunatly end up at pounds quite a bit. They are a high maintenance breed. They have long hair that must be brushed very regularly. Many people think they will have the time in the beginning but unfortunatly do not. If you like the look of the persians stubby face but are wanting a cat because its less maintenance then a dog, then you might want to look into something called an exotic. http://www.fancyfriends.com/Exotic_Breed_Profile.htm Here was a quick link that I found explaining them.

I have ragdolls. I am partial to them. They are a needy breed though. Someone who wants a kitty because they are aloft and dont need alot of attention need never get a ragdoll. LOL. They are like little puppy dogs, with no skiddishness that alot of cats have. That though is their fault. They are not scared of things so can never go outside. They will not run from new things, like a big dog coming to eat them. Here is where I got one of my ragdoll. A breeder I can highly recommend. http://www.iwantaragdoll.com/

I dont know any persian or exotic breeders in texas. Sorry.

  12. After having a glass heater get a pin whole shatter in it and electrocuting my entire tank :) and then having an expensive stainless one some how decide to fritz and heat my tank up to 90 degrees, I have bought the stealth heaters. No shattering and I am getting them in the smaller size so that if one does decide to go crazy, I wont have the problem of it being able to heat my tank up to that level on its own. Several small ones are better then big ones. Course yours is a small tank, so you cant add several, but just adding my experiences in. Good luck with the new heater.
