  1. Can you put some airline tubing in the hole? Then you can pull up or down on it until it quiets down.

Possibly. I'm thinking it's too narrow right now since there's no change when I shut off the airflow completely, but it might be the right diameter to fit airline tubing directly in it.

  2. I had the same thing going on with mine last month. My air hole on top was clogged just needed to b cleaned off

I did double check that it's not clogged but it isn't a very large hole. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm assuming that if I throttle the pump and the noise goes away it means the air hole is not large enough for the amount of flow.

  3. This durso looks like it's setup correctly but constantly gurgles. Not sure if the air hole is too small or my flow is too high. Noise level doesn't change if I cover the air hole. Straight drop directly into a filter sock. No bends at all. Running on a Eheim compact 2000+ pump. Just guessing, it's probably about 400 actual GPH.

  4. Shouldn't have any problems with a foxface. If you do an angel you would want a lamarcks or bellus or other swallow tail. There's still a chance of nipping, but most end up being coral safe. Royal gramma and springer's damsel are 2 of my go to community reef fish.

  5. You don't need anything crazy for flow. I really like the eheim compact+ pumps which are small enough to fit into small sump spaces and have adjustable flow. I would probably go with the 2000+ throttled most of the way down, or the 1000+ all the way open. How far below the tank is your sump going to be? That will make a huge difference between rated and actual flow.

  6. If you don't completely frame it into the wall, you could do a cabinet built directly into the wall which could easily allow access to the water from the front. If you've seen Richard L's tank this is what I'm talking about but his isn't accessible from the back.

  7. Pretty much every whitetail we've gotten here was 150lbs max. Back in Colorado almost everything I've ever seen was 300+, mule deer though.

They definitely taste better here. I guess tree bark and sage brush for 6 - 9 months of the year doesn't lend well to flavorful meat.

  8. I think I'm leaning towards just a better programmable one. Will check out those filtrete ones. I didn't quite realize the Austin Energy one wasn't a normal one. I pretty much have a complete disdain for Austin Energy and giving them any control over my electricity is a non starter. They shut our power off that summer it was really hot (wrong house), and almost killed our dog and did kill an entire discus tank. Of course "they aren't liable for damage or pet deaths" caused when they shut someone's power off, deliberate or not.

  9. Weatherby vanguard or remington 700 would probably be my picks. Even the entry level rifles are going to be really good guns. I believe you can find them for right at $400.

I have not shot either of those you listed so can't comment directly. You might see if any of the shooting ranges have models you can demo.

  10. Also, fish tank CO2 lasts so long that cleaning is pretty much irrelevant. Once you get a good output pressure on the reg, you really don't need to worry about it. I run CO2 almost 24/7 on my FW tank and a 10# bottle lasts more than a year.

  11. Is this a long or short tentacle one? Assuming it's a short, they should be fine in most any condition. I would be more afraid of too much light and bleaching them than not enough. The long tentacle ones are a totally different animal though. Low flow, med to high light and make sure they never get damaged.

  12. You should be able to grow most anything under that light.

Are you going to use a controller, or just timers? That heater is about as good as they come. But I typically just use hydor theo heaters and I've never had any problem. Make sure to test the temp and not trust the dial though.

As far as rear chamber, check out: http://shop.mediabaskets.com/IM-Nuvo-38_c65.htm

They offer a bunch of options for the rear compartment. I would probably go with floss on the top level followed by carbon/gfo if needed. I believe you can get a skimmer in the back as well without it getting too ugly.

  13. Is shooting it illegal?

Probably not. Funny how that works. I read a story about a guy that ate a dove that flew into his house. Watched it happen, dove was dead and he didn't wan't it to go to waste. He made a facebook or some other social network post, and fish and game showed up. Only reason they didn't fine him was there was a massive outcry online. http://www.outdoorlife.com/blogs/newshound/2012/10/texas-man-trouble-law-eating-dove

  14. Nice turtle. We found an alligator snapping turtle out at the RIver Place golf course about the same size (yes I know they're not supposed to live here, but no question what it was). Almost ran over the poor guy on the cart path. Town lake has at least 1 alligator snapper now...

I'd chase off that raccoon though. It's almost a guarantee they'll try and eat your fish and likely will end up with rabies. They're cute while young and can get pretty nasty when they grow up.
