  1. ive grown up with freshwater all my life and used slate. different pieces and sizes and you could always chisel it very easily. My wife may come back in and rearrange it but well see. But i made the sure bottom rock was through the sand actually flat on lvled on the glass and kinda did it like a puzzle. just layed the rock certain ways until it felt sturdy and couldnt fall. I still dont see the suncoral maybe im blind and dont know what im looking for.

  2. yah def its what im shooting for. is it possible to get a light that does all that and already put together and be around the 400ish range or lower?

this is what im looking at atm. http://www.reefgeek.com/lighting/T5_Fluorescent/Sunlight_Supply/Tek_Light_Elite_Fixtures/48_inch__6x54W_Tek_Light_Elite_T5_High-Output_Fixture_w!_Bulbs_(Graphite)_by_Sunlight_Supply. but its on backorder so im gonna keep looking or wait until i get a email that there in stock

  3. Well my wife gave me a budget on lighting today lol. I currently dont have enough lighting for my tank and i was looking for more. Atm I have a t5(coralife) setup with only 2lbs that on push around 110watts. I know that will not be enough if i want to get into corals. With talking to a few people i was thinking of DIY but with the tank being in my dinneroom and my wife being a freak about everything being modern, ill have to stick with something similiar to keep her happy lol. I really like what i have now just isnt enough lighting. I have been looking at lights all night and morning on marinedepot and various sites. I feel really lost and not sure whats the best bang for the buck. I know i do want something ill be happy with for a long time that has a timer and fan included with a possible moonlight for nighttime. I was hoping somone had some experiences or ideas would be best for a 55gallon (48) inch. Im just trying to get all the opinions i can before i jump into something. this is my first saltwater tank and i want it to be right the first time. thanks everyone.

  5. I just posted this in Scct i just became a member there and and thank you for allowing me to also be a member.

Im really glad to be here and I have alot to learn. I grown up with freshwater tanks and always wanted a saltwater tank. Being in the military and the responsiblities of having a salt water tank have kept me from doing this. About two weeks ago i decided to to start doing research on saltwater aquariums and just recently broke down my 55 gallon and started transforming it to saltwater. Im still kinda lost but im continuing to do research and talk to people but i feel this site will help me get one step closer to my goal. Ive currently purchased and installed a t5 lighting system a moon light with timers about 50lbs of live sand. A prizm skimer and two hang on the back carbon filters with biowheels that i already had with my freshwater tank. A Hydor Koralia Evolution 1050GPH Circulation Pump x2. I had no idea live rock was so expensive and being in killeen theres not much to choose from. I currently only have about 12lbs of live rock and im looking for more. Im currently on my first week of cycling. I was told buying some tlc would help me cycle quicker so i also purchased some. Im really glad this site is here. theres doesnt seem to many knowledgeable people at the limited stores or the ones that are knowledgable are not very friendly. Im a great listener and always looking for opinions or advice and looking for more supplies for my tank. one day i hope to have reefs aswell. Im also still kinda lost on what would be a great starter fish that wouldnt impact having a community tanks. I always hear to start with a hardy fish like a damsel but damsels are very agressive so im kinda confused on that.
