  6. Thanks so much for the advice, I have added the uv sterilizer to the last stage of the sump. I did not want to slow down the return pump so I added a small pump to the sterilizer and am depositing back into the sump before returning to the tank. If this seems to work I will add tubing so it will dump into the tank instead of dumping into the sump. Thanks again Sherri
  7. I am adding a uv sterilizer and am needing some advise please. I purchased a 9 watt, the instruction say nothing about where to install it, except "do not place in water." I tried adding it to the skimmer pump but created too much head and the skimmer did not make skimmate. Suggestions? Greately appreciated.
  8. Please forward pictures of the bubble coral, yellow sponge and trumpet coral to me. Thanks Sherri s_griffin at yahoo dot com
  9. I put an add on Craigs List for a free tank when I was making a sump and I did get several replies, I did not have the time to drive around the city looking at tanks, so I bought a used aquarium from River City for a dollar a gallon. It turned out to be an effective sump for a few dollars, it is not pretty (chipping paint on the back). Isn't pretty subjective? Like most DIY effective sumps, I wish I would have made it bigger but I do love storage. S
  10. I used 2 36". Here was my thinking: if there was a problem with a bulb in the future the whole tank would not be with out light.
  11. If you have not found someone to head this up, I will be interested. I am not longer working (layed off) but did this sort of thing when working (Asset Manager). I live near Bastrop in Cedar Creek which may be a problem, but will try to work through them this time. Let me know Sherri
  12. PMed for the number 18.
  13. I am back from a visit to Corpus, and brought back some feeder shrimp and bivalves. The first picture is of the bivalves, after putting them in your aquarium or sump they will stir the subtrate and filter the water of nitrates as clams do. The second picture I borrowed from the internet, they are feeder shrimp. I would like to trade these for frags if you have something to trade if not they are free for the taking, but you have to come get them, I live outside of Bastrop, so bring a container. Call 512-963-1435 Thanks Sherri
  14. I also bought some live rock from Andrew today and it is full of life. I left a piece that I should not have. I am kicking myself, because after coming home and arranging the tank, yet again, I have the perfect spot for the piece I left. Thank You Andrew for being able to meet me today and for the wonderful pieces of rock. Sherri
  15. Sounds like a great place to grow base rock into live rock with a little seeding!
  16. Hi Buggin, I dont have anything to trade, so how much in cash for these two? Sherri
  17. Just curious, I have two wild caught hermit crabs. They are bigger then I like and one really wanted the shell a snail was in, I liked that snail. So I put them in the sump as a holding till I go back to the coast later this month. I will take them back and release them. Also I am wanting some help with nitrite and nitrate levels, everyone says mangrove sprigs in the overflow. I was wanting an idea of something vegitation but I will need to add a light. Any suggestions? Whats in your Sump and Why? Sherri
