Hey Everyone-
I've started a little program called Fish in Schools (http://fishinschools.org) that's part of a non-profit association called MARATA (http://marata.org). You can view the Fish in Schools site (still under construction) for a summary of what we do, but the basic idea is to put low maintenance saltwater setups in classrooms. These aquariums will go into public schools and be free of charge. We're just getting started and have some Austin teachers lined up who are ready and waiting.
What we're looking for now are donations of used equipment to get us started. We really need some of the smaller all-in-one aquariums, like Biocubes or Nanocubes. If anyone has one they'd like to donate, please let me know. (It doesn't even need to be fully functioning, as long as the aquarium part is in good shape, we could probably get it up and running with spare parts.) We'll also be looking for other donations as the program progresses: live rock, easy corals, small-tank appropriate fish etc.
Please just reply to this post if you have anything. If anonymity is more your style, you can email me at: craig {at} marata.org.
Cash donations made from our http://fishinschools.org are also, of course, greatly welcomed. Anything at all will help!
Suggestions and ideas are welcome as well.
Thanks!
Craig
