Just finishing a round with Red Slime Remover.
I got it from Shane. He told me to remove any carbon and turn off the skimmer during the dosing.
After two doses and five days I did a 15% water change and put the skimmer back on. It went completly wild. Even dialed all the way back it was pulling out tons of water. Called Shane and he said let it go, so I set up a bucket and waited. After about five hours and six or seven gallons of water the skimmer started calming down. That was yesterday.
Today the skimmer has calmed down enough that I can skim fairly dry, but it is still adjusted way down from normal. My understanding is it will take a couple more days of slowly readjusting the skimmer to get it back to normal.
Oh, and I had a LOT of microbubble for about the first 4-6 hours yesterday.

I did a 15% water change today before I turned the skimmer back on.
Should I be collecting the skimate, (huge amount) or should I just let it drain back into the sump?

I had an issue with some red slime algae, so based on Shane's recomendation I used Red Slime control.
I did a 15% water change tonight and turned my skimmer back on.
My skimmer is going crazy. I have it turned all the way back, and closed the air-valve (i.e. it is chocked back as much as it will go) and it is still spewing tons of water into the cup. Right now the water is just filling the cup and then running back into the sump.
Should I be capturing the water it is taking out? I'm afraid if I do that it is going to drain my tank ? Or let it be and see if it calms down after a while?
Thanks,

I usually dump mine somewhere I don't care about having grass (I have acerage).
For those of you on septics, I assume(?) you don't dump it down the drain?

The only concerns that I have heard about are in coastal areas where the threat of introducing macro algea into the ocean could cause major problems. Caulerpa has been a problem in a few different areas where it was introduced by aquarists. Thats why its illegal in California.
Isn't everything illegal in California?

Has anyone used the LED moonlights that a few companies are selling?
BRS has this one:
http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/rkm-mlc-ph-lunar-moon-light-module-white-digital-aquatics.html
That works with the ReefKeeper controller system.
Any thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks,

Bill,
Sorry, I'm a bit confused. I was looking at the wrong receipt from Premium Aquatics. They initially sent me the wrong lights and that was the receipt I was looking at...
is exactly what I have, plus I have a 39w Aqua Blue Plus and a 39w Aqua Blue Special Bulb with it.
Sorry for any confusion.
If you want to PM me your e-mail address I can send you some pictures of the setup as well.
Thanks,

Stil avaliable. I really want to get it out of the barn this weekend if possible. Someone just come get it...

It is the Hamilton Aruba Sun 2x54 watt HO T5 Retrofit Kit. I purhcased it from Premium Aquatics on 2/4/10.
The bulbs are two 36inch ATI bulbs. One Blue Plus, and One Aquablue Special.

One of many articles I found that refute this study:
http://www.masterresource.org/2010/01/ocean-acidification-another-failing-scare-story/
and another study that directly contradicts it:

Still have the T5 setup, make me an offer!
BTW, this is a retro kit.

This would be a great train set for your or your kid.
I just need to get it out of my garage and clear up some space.
Make me an offer (trade).

I'm assuming the initial demand will be high (i.e. everyone will want to play with the new toy).
So, how do we decide who gets it first, out of those that contribute? Random drawing?

I have a fairly large (4x8) train setup that I would like to sell/trade.
It is an HO scale train with the track, landscaping, transformer, etc. all setup in a really nice 4x8 landscaped thingy.
The train that went with it is dead, but everything else is in working order.
I honestly don't know what this thing is worth, I do know it would cost several hundred dollars to build, but I'm not looking to get that much for it.
This would be a great setup for kids to play with. My daugher had a lot of fun with it, but she has outgrown it, and I need to clear up some space...
I'm open to cash (of course) or trades. I just upgraded my 75 to VHO lighting so I can start to do some easier corals, and I know my wife would like some frogspawn, and/or some other pretty, sway in the current sort of stuff .

I'd be interested, especially since I just put in some new VHO lights that could use some testing as well.
What other equipment would be of value for occasional use like this?
I used to be in a dive club that had a collection of gear they rented to club members. For the most part it worked pretty well.
