Yep..tonight is good. Tomorrow night (Tues) I'm unavailable after 6p.
okidoki. I'll be on my way in a few minutes.

What time is good for pickup? 7 - 730 okay?

Hmm, maybe I will order a Scarlet Pin Stripe then... hmm... decisions decisions.
-
he is nice to everyone but my fire fish. He's just taking pot shots at him now, but I like the fire fish over the wrasse.
I might have to bring over my sheet of acrylic and try to catch him. I can bring it tomorrow night when it is order pick up time and see if I can nab him.

RCA carries it locally. I think it is $55 for 180 gal worth of mix.
I knew I should have dropped by there. I ended up getting a box of hW Marinemix. It was definitely more expensive. I don't know if it is any better than Red Sea Pro.

One of the plusses is that it can prevent diseases from jumping from one fish to another. It also prevents algae blooms. I have one in my tank but I do not have it on my return pump because I don't want everything dead. Instead, I just have a second pump that feeds to my UVS and then the return from that goes back into the sump.

Fairy Wrasses are very skittish. If you plan on having them I would stay away from the sixline for sure. Not very familiar with the pin-stripe. I love Wrasses and have lost a few to jumping even with a canopy. They somehow seem to find the smallest openings somehow. So make sure you have your tank covered.
The six lines can be pretty aggressive. The scarlet pin stripes are much more docile... at least that is what rumor says. I haven't seen one in person or have known anyone who has one.

If you can catch my 6 line, you can have him.
Is he mean to anything that you have? I had one in the past that was only mean to new arrivals.

Red Sea it is. Thanks guys.

So my RO/DI unit comes in on Monday. I will be mixing up some water next week, probably Wednesday.
What brand of salt should I get?

Well...guess what...I am actually consolidating!!! I had a member come over yesterday and he schooled me on saving time, work and a potential house fire... Did you ever see Christmas Vacation and how Clark Griswold wired his Christmas lights in the basement?? There ya go!!! I have 80 gallons that need go into one tank...I got some leads on custom built ones, but I'd rather save some pennies and just go with a nice used one.
Dang, how many tanks do you have?

Based on the picture I would say everything is fine. None of the corals seem "wind swept". It usually takes corals a while to acclimate to a change in the flow. My kenya trees usually take a day or so to stand back up.
You could aim your powerhead up towards the top of the water. That will cause a more even flow downwards. I usually point mine up about +10º to 15º from being parallel with the surface of the water. It keeps things from getting swept over too much and aerates the water.

Sounds like if you want a passive wrasse you should add it before either one. I like my 6 line.
I do like the wrasses from the genus Pseudocheilinus. They remind me of dogs. That's one of the reasons why I like the Scarlet Pin Stripe Wrasse and the Six Line Wrasse.
-
The sixline tend to be agressive with the fairy and flasher wrasses so if you plan on going sixline that will narrow down your wrasse options later on. I am partial to the flashers myself blue flasher wrasse will be my next wrasse purchase unless I can find another leopard which I would grab.
I do like the Blueheaded Fairy Wrasse. They are pretty nice. I do not have some semi-aggressive fish in my tank, like a pseudochromis. She stays in the rocks until she is hungry. Out of all of my fish she is probably the most aggressive. I got rid of a spotted hawkfish that I had because he would attack anything with fins.
Would a fairy wrasse have problems acclimating to a tank with larger fish or semi-aggressive fish?
-
So, I have decided that I want to get a wrasse. I have narrowed it down to two choices, the Scarlet Pin Stripe Wrasse or the Six Line Wrasse. I have not seen a Scarlet Pin Stripe Wrasse in person. I have had a Six Line Wrasse in the past and liked him.
According to LiveAquaria.com they have the same temperament and environment requirements. Either one would be good for my tank. Does anyone know if the Scarlet Pin Stripe Wrasse is as active as the Six Line Wrasse? I love how the Six Line Wrasse dart in and out of rocks and is fairly active and passive to other fish.

I love when hermits do that. I have a few snails that like to piggy back on each other from time to time. I always get a chuckle out of it.

RCA opens @ 2p for their First Friday Sale.
Fishybusiness is open as well.
You are always welcome to get RODI from me...
Sale! Sweet!
I'd love some Mark water. What time are you available today?
-
I need some RO to top off my tank and some algae strips for my angels and tangs. Are there any LFSs that are open today? I know that AquaTek is closed today.

The aluminum L bars from Home Depot come in handy. I used them to hold up my 24 inch light fixture before I upgraded to a 36 inch fixture. It worked out great.

Those acans are super colorful. Mater looks so small in that anemone.

Today I started setting up my barrel in anticipation for the RO/DI unit that i am expecting on Monday. I drilled the bottom of the barrel and fitted it with an extra bulkhead from an overflow kit. I am leak testing now. So far so good. I have a ball valve to regulate the flow out of the barrel.
Here is what I have so far:
-
Yep. It still hasn't found a home yet. It moves every 3-4 days. I hope it figures it out soon b/c I know where I want to glue my frags, but only if the 'nem stays still.
Maybe you should glue the anemone down. Haha. Kidding.

The installation of the RO/DI unit is complete. I am efficiently churning out RO/DI water. The setup was ridiculously easy. I was shocked at how easy it was to setup. I was expecting lots of pilled water and leaks. No leaks and hardly any water on the garage floor.
