  1. To use the expansion socket, you need an extra wall plug. It plugs into the wall, and also into one of the plugs on the controller. you still only have 8 channels, but with the expansion socket you can plug two things into the one channel. And since it's a relay separate from the controllers power, you can plug some higher powered items into it.

  2. I got some of those. I ordered them from someone claiming to be in Freeport, TX, but then when the package came it was shipped from North Carolina.

Afterwards, I got this from Ebay:

Unfortunately, eBay removed this auction-style listing because it's against the law, eBay policy, or both. All bids or offers on this listing have been canceled. We advise you to not purchase this item.

    It's a lesson learned now.

    STICK WITH THE SPONSER'S!!

  3. I have the Lunar lights and I love them. I now have 4 on my 120.

I started with 2 about a year ago. It lit 2 areas of the tank. Later I bought 4 more. The new ones I bought were at least twice as bright as the older ones. I'm not sure if they changed them or I started with 2 bad ones, but there is a dramitc difference in them.

You can see the difference here in the old and new. I've since changed the two older ones out.

  4. Here's mine. I built everything myself, except of course for the glass. Maybe give you some ideas. I had the luxury of plumbing water, electricity and a drain up through the wall.

Click on the Sump and Canopy links for pictures.

The only change I'm going to make is to put a cooling fan in the stand to vent the sump. With both doors closed the temp climbs really high and I'm afraid of all the humidity building up inside.

  5. You should check and monitor the temp. Your going to find it is a whole lot higher than the room tempurature because of the pumps and lighting.

There's alos other things that affect the tempature, like humidity and air movement.

  6. I have a Dusky Jawfish, and from what I'm reading they seem to be pretty close to the same in thier habits.

My sandbed is about 4 to 6 inches of southdown covered with 1 to 2 inches of special grade aragonite. My jawfish can dig to the bottom very quickly. He has two different places that he switches between every few weeks, and occasionally lives in both at the same time. When he decides to switch places, the holes usually have filled back in. He spits mouthfuls of sand up into the water and the southdown turns my tank into a vanilla milkshake for the day.

He's fun to watch. The closer something gets to him, the more his mouth opens. The closer the snails get, the more nervous he gets until he finally grabs them and hauls them to somewhere else in the tank and spits them out.

When I feed frozen brine shrimp, he comes out of his hole and grabs the shrimp at the speed of lightning. I've never had mine try to jump out, but if he did I would never see it. They are very fast swimmers.

During the night, he comes out of his hole and cruises around, but never far from his hole.

Give him a bunch of rocks and shells about 1/2 inch in size and he'll build a wall around his opening.

  7. I lost power from 9:00pm to 4:30am. The house was cool so heat wasn't a problem. I had just fed everything so I guess the corals got to feed on everything that stayed suspended in the water for so long. As far as I can tell, everyhing survived without problems.
