  1. Does anyone know if you can still drill the side of a tank if the bottom is tempered???? Also is it safe to remove the plastic ring from a 40gal breeder tank??? Thanks in advance!!

      If you can take to a glass store they will be able to tell. Might give the glass store a call first.

      ok great I would really like to be able to drill even if its on the back instead of the bottom.... does anyone know about removing the plastic ring around the top of the tank?? is that something that can be done

      It can be removed, but most likely the tank is designed with it as a support. You can use a heat gun and razor blade to remove it. I'm not sure I would do it though especially if there is a center brace.

      As long as the back or side isn't tempered, you can drill those panels.
