    LED Light (DIY)

I was at Chads place and got to see their zoas under the blue LEDs. I was genuenly impressed. Let me tell you I have NEVER seen corals florece the way I have under this light. It takes a lot to impress me now a days. Working where I do I get to see a lot of things come and go and get bored w/ the see things day after day. Seing this I gained some motivation........
  2. What you probably seing is a spooked or stressed fish. They can lay flat on their side like wrasses and other laterally compressed fish.
  3. Look at that, your own little biotope. Thats pretty cool.

    Lionfish

and I do feed "frozen" foods but theyre never frozen going in the tank. I agree feeding foods that are still blocks of ice is never a good idea. I know a lot of folks that do, take that extra couple minutes to thaw....

    Lionfish

At the moment mine are eating PE mysis and grass shrimp. I see the issue with the waste produced but Im pretty sure theres ways to deal w/ that. Yea they are not grazers but neither are hundreds of other fish we keep that still produce a ton of waste. I dont see how thats an issue when there is 100g+ mixed reef tanks loaded w/ larger fish that dont graze and still more that contribute to the waste load. It may not be the ideal thing to do but its doable. Ive seen some impressive reef tanks w/ predators that are pretty succelful. I think Volitans get way to big and just a little too lazy for my taste.

    Lionfish

+1 on the fuzzy. I have kept others before and I'll have to say fuzzies are probably the most active Lions I've had. They do have plenty of personality. They are NOT agressive fish, they dont come at you TRYING to sting ya. Theyre just little predators. I really like that they do come out during the day......

    clown fish

Yea maroons will do that, but they take super good care of the nems once they take to it. Usually keepingin clowns within the same species work ok in a big enough tank. Ive tried keeping Tomato, Maroon, Clarkii, and Ocellaris in a 90gl and it didnt go so well. Black Ocellaris, Onyx, Percs, Naked, ect.. can usually kept in the same tank and even pair up. Its doable just keep an eye on em. Theres always exceptions, everyone has a diifferent story to tell. It varies from case to case......

Looks like I might be upgrading the skimmer. Ive been giving the Mame Skimmer some serious though. Dont mind the glass ornament my son chuncked them in there when I wasnt looking and I felt bad pulling them out.
  16. I was loosing my mind for a sec there. Had to throw in Finding Nemo real quick to double check. What chu talking bout willis, when that thing opens up its like a sexy bowl a Jello. A bowl of Jello BOB might find attractive I might add.
  17. Does Nemo have a gimpy fin? Heck Yea!
  18. Well,.... thats exactly what I did, but not really. ripped out the fake wall and all the plumbing back there and left the chambers on the left. I plumbed 2 returns from pvc . 1 Return on the left y'd w/ loc line brought down and across the tank to the bottom right for another return w loc line. Ill post pics soon. I didnt think it came out to bad.
  19. If you can get your hands on it the Mame Overflows are flippin ssweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
  20. Corey why am I not surprised to see you post that right after me, lol. I know Im gonna hear from Dan shortly too. I think Im swingin twoards ripping out the false wall and the plumbing and keeping the 3 chambers on the left.
  21. Flukes cling to glass and they multiply like no ones buisness. They are small but elongated, visible to the naked eye.
  22. Well I knew it would happen, it would just be a matter of time. I need to go bigger! One of 2 things. 1 I gut the SQWDs and the back piece of plexy OR I just sell it and buy another tank, decisions decisions.
