AndrewT
a while back i noticed these little critters in my tank. i pulled them out and didnt notice them for a while. well ive recently had a boom in growth in my tank and with all the new growth theres been a boom in the number of the asterina stars. ive been pulling them out like crazy but im sure for every 10 i pull out theres about 20 more i missed.... im afraid they may be eating my zoas as well. how can i get rid of these guys. Derry
A harlequin shrimp did wonders for mine. How big's your tank? There IS the risk of the harlequin eating its entire food supply. LiveAquaria also has a bumble bee shrimp that they claim will eat asterinas, and yet isn't an obligate sea star predator like the harlequin. I've also heard anecdotally that blue linkia stars will eat asterinas. Food for thought, Derry
Rjohn
spiny box puffer ate all mine. I should mention it also ate all but the largest of my snails and crabs.
