Zarathustra2
So, my algae scrubber should be up and running tonight assuming I don't have to fight my Air Conditioner again. I'm seeing if anyone has an established Agae scrubber in north austin that I could get your cleanings off of it would be very appreciated. mFrame
You check with renman?
Dena
Too funny...we've got all the pieces aside from the little plastic things that hold the screen in the pipe...the we're all set to go. I can't wait to see how it works. Dena
Zarathustra2
I did check with renman but I think he has been busy. He never got back with me.
+Daniel
Would going to a local pet store and asking for their hair algae work? Or were you looking for already established turf (the red harder stuff)? I almost have my algae scrubber complete...yay.
Hamp
I just put the light on mine and the algae came quick. I dont think you need to seed it.
Zarathustra2
I was lookign for some of the red stuff to seed so I wouldn't need to develop it over several months if possible.
mFrame
Well, do both. Start it now and when you get the seed turf add it.
Zarathustra2
Yep. It's getting plumbed in this weekend regardless. After fiddling with it last night realized that the flourescent lights I got for it just didn't put out enough light so its gonna need a home depot trip. +Daniel
If you find some of the good stuff, I'd be interested too. I'm going to try my hand with a small scrubber. What type of plastic screen are you using?
mFrame
crosstitch screen from Michael's, in the crochet section. They have 8x11 and 8x17 sheets
Zarathustra2
Same here. Using the crossstitch screen. Big size over at hobby lobby cost be 98 cents so I bought 3 in case i messed up on 2. Still looking for some turf if anyone has btw. If anyone is going to be at prof's on friday and could bring it there that would be awesome. I still don't believe I'm out and begging for what is usually considered a nuisance algae.
