Only used for mixing saltwater. I bought it with a spigot so I sealed it with two brass fittings and Aqueon aquarium silicone. Only used as RO/DI storage. There are two holes in this barrel near the top, none at the bottom, for a float valve and overflow protection. This is one of the holes, which is at the same height as the float valve.
