SPS Samurai
Just wanted to share with the local ARC community what I've been working on these past few months. I haven't been on the forums in so long and I really didn't want to post duplicate threads. Here's the link to view my 5.5 EcoPico. I'll definately be visiting ARC more frequently now. Enjoy! http://www.reef2reef.com/forums/nano-reefs/100883-yodle-pico.html
Chad and Belinda
Just read your R2R thread. Awesome pico you have going. We have thought about doing one ourselves and have done some research. I've never seen one I like as much as yours. Look forward to seeing you around.
SPS Samurai
Thanks! They're fun little tanks. That Pico sitting on the counter at RCA really inspired me. Hopefully this build will inspire others to get into reef keeping. A lot of the old school hobbyist aren't around anymore. Glad to see you're still in it. SPS Samurai
I've seen the same complaint coming from a lot of Pico reefers. I can go for 9-10 days or so before I have to top off. It's a simple fix. You just need a glass top on your tank. It'll slow the evaporation rate. The design of the EcoPico has its drawbacks in that there is no overflow compartment for a nano skimmer. I've seen a European spinoff somewhere where it had the overflow, lock lines etc. What I sacrificed in space for a skimmer is a glass top which slows my evaporation rate keeping my parameters more stable. I also like how Ecoxotic's lamp fixtures are so low profile. They hang really close to the water surface which makes it a thrill to slam the tank with light. I try to offset the absence of a skimmer by strictly feeding live foods to my Mandarin and Pipefish.
