I have a 40 breeder that has the standard plastic trim around the top and bottom and it also has a glass center brace. i was wonderin if it was safe to remove the center brace? i see a lot of 40 breeders without a center brace straight off the shelf.

thanks in advance

Its there for a reason. They wouldn't go the extra expense of putting it in there if it weren't necessary. I would NOT remove it and sleep better at night ^_^

No, it is not safe to remove the center brace. It may run trouble free for years but sooner or later the stress will blow a seam, trust me. The black trim ring exists mainly for looks. It also helps align everything during construction and prevents chipping the top edge of the glass.

Just think of it as a shelf that is there for your convenience. It'll be a good place to put your drink while you're scraping.
